Our home

Our house was built in 2003 and it has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms and a small garden. It is on a small estate of 20 detached houses, most with children. On the ground floor is the living room with open fire, widescreen TV with satellite channels, VCR and DVD Recorder. The kitchen is quite large and has a dining table which seats 6 people. It has an island with hob and black granite worktops. It is equipped with a dishwasher, built in oven, microwave, etc. Off it is a utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a further family room/playroom with TV and playstation on the ground floor as well as a toilet. On the second floor there are 4 bedrooms and family bathroom. The master bedroom, has a full bathroom with jacuzzi bath and double shower. It also has a walk in dressing room. The second bedroom has a single bed and built in wardrobes. (We normally use this as a store room when we exchange homes). The third bedroom has a double bed and an ensuite shower and toilet and the fourth bedroom has a single bed and built in wardrobes. All the bedrooms have varnished wooden floors. On the next floor there are a further two rooms, the office with computer and broadband Internet and a relaxation/meditation room.
The front garden is landscaped with shrubs and a water feature. The back garden has decking and is otherwise in grass.
We are non-smokers and would ask you not to smoke inside the house.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Donabate is a coastal village situated on a peninsula yet only 25 minutes from the center of Dublin by train. There are many beaches in the area. The main beach is wide and sandy and stretches for 3 miles while 'Tower Bay' is a shingly beach with caves to explore at low tide. There are 5 golf courses in the immediate area. We have a large park adjacant to the village which contains a historical house, farm open to the public and large playground. There are many nice walks in the area including a cliff walk. We are 15 minutes drive from Dublin airport and less than 10 minutes drive from the nearest large town, Swords. Donabate itself has a shopping centre with supermarket, pharmacy, coffee-shop, restaurant, video-store, etc. There are 2 Chinese restaurants and a take-away in the area. There are also 2 pubs and an off-licence. There is also a leisure centre which has a gym and activities for children in the Summer.
Within one hours drive there are many historical sites such as Newgrange, a 5000 year old passage tomb, Mellifont Abbey, a 13th century Cistercian monastery, the site of the Battle of the Boyne 1690, Hill of Tara where the High Kings of ireland had their court and which St Patrick visited in the 5th Century. Nearby is Malahide Castle and Gardens. The coast north of Donabate has many picturesque harbours and sandy beaches popular with families. The fishing village of Howth south of Donabate has many upmarket restaurants.
