Our home

My home is a beautiful architect designed house where I live, (with three grown up children visiting regularly)and with my dog Jackson. Its' open plan living can cope easily with 6/8 people. The house is a contemporary farmhouse with a modern feel to the interior. There is great light and space in the house helped by the open style kitchen dining area. There is a cosy den with T.V. and a second larger living room (with double french doors onto the patio area at the back)off the entrance hall. There is a downstairs bedroom but I use this as an office and for storage. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, the master, ensuite, and two double rooms with a 'jack and jill' style shared bathroom. There is one other double room en-suite. This is a lovely space to be in and I would hope that any visitors would appreciate this. I also have an art studio cottage on the site and there is a ruin of a 17th century coach house.

Property features

Who we are

  1. I am a divorced mother of 3 grown up children. Ideallly it would be great to exchange with another artist or creative soul/s. I am an artist and much of my work is based on the beautiful countryside that I live in. (The artwork changes regularly in the house!) I am interested in exploring cultural diversity and would love to get involved with another art community. It would be great to have a long period (6/8 weeks) in one place to get immersed in the local life. I also love to walk, read, golf, and horse-ride.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Mandala is situated very centrally in Ireland and is an ideal base for touring the country or indeed Europe if you so wish. The local picturesque village of Strokestown is 3 miles away. A car is essential! Strokestown Park House is located there, together with the Famine Museum. There is great hiking on the local mountain and in the area. Good walking clubs, tennis and golf clubs in Longford and swimming pool/gym and golf in Roscommon. It is a peaceful, idyllic location where you can ramble up to the local pub and have a quiet pint of Guinness with the locals! It's a one hour drive to the nearest beach in Sligo (see Yeats country whilst you are there)Dublin and Galway are about a 90 minute drive away. There are great golf courses nearby, also horse-riding and great fishing in the many lakes and rivers in this region. There are great galleries in the midlands and in the larger centres.
