Our home

Beautiful Holiday Home set in the heart of the bustling seaside village of Standhill Co. Sligo. Nestled under the Knocknarea Mountain, this is the perfect holiday location with surfing, beaches, beautiful walks, a golf course, horse riding, excellent pubs, restaurants and cafes all on our doorstep. ( see http://gostrandhill.com for an overview of Strandhill)

Downstairs our house has a large, well equipped kitchen/dining room. Off this is a downstairs toilet and utility room with washing machine and dryer. There is a large sitting room with ample seating, t.v and open fireplace. There is also a large and comfortable den/study with t.v, wii and toys and games for children.

Upstairs we have four double bedrooms and a main bathroom with bath and shower. The master bedroom also has an ensuite bathroom. All rooms contain a double bed.

Outside is a large, fully enclosed back garden. There is a small garden to the front and a central green area shared by the other houses in our estate.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 5 who are based in Galway in the West of Ireland. Strandhill is our holiday home and we have been coming here since our children were babies. We love walking the beaches, climbing the dunes, cycling, golfing and exploring county Sligo and Donegal. There is so much to see and do there. Strandhill is the surf capital of Ireland and has a number of schools offering lessons to suit all levels.

We also love to eat out and Strandhill is quite the culinary experience catering for all tastes and budgets. Shells award winning cafe is our favourite breakfast haunt and we are spoilt for choice for dinner between The Strand, The Venue, The Draft House for casual food and Tra Ban for fine dining. There is also a crepe and ice-cream parlour called Mammy Johnston's and its delicious homemade italian ice-cream is a firm favourite with our children.

Sligo 'town' is more like a city than a town and offers a great choice of shops, restaurants and tourist amenities.

We are new to house swapping and are looking for like minded people who will respect and look after our holiday home as we will theirs.

Your neighbourhood

Our holiday home is in the heart of Strandhill village. It is very picturesque with both sea and mountain views. There is a playground, and golf-course, shop, church and pharmacy all within 5 mins walk. The beach and restaurants are less than a 10 minute walk.

Situated right on the Atlantic Ocean it is the perfect base for touring 'The Wild Atlantic Way' with neighbouring counties of Donegal, Mayo and Galway all within a easy commute.

Sligo Town is a mere 8kms away and offers a wealth of cultural, artistic and touristic outlets such as 'The Yeats Summer School', the Sligo Arts Festival and was twice host town to the traditional Music 'Fleadh Ceol Na hEireann" in recent years. ( See http://www.sligotourism.ie)
