Our home

Our home is a large bungalow nestled in the countryside on a quite road yet close to all amenities. In 2009 we renovated our home and added a large extension which holds our kitchen, dining and living space. This room alone is almost 1000Sq ft with tiles in the kitchen area and solid wood flooring in the living space. We have a lovely stove in the living area that can be used in the colder months if needed. We also have large doors in this room that open out to our huge garden where there are swings and slide for the kids along with a trampoline. We can provide 6 bikes also.

There are 5 bedrooms - 1 with queen bed, a single bedroom with an ensuite, and 3 other bedrooms with single beds. We have SKY TV along with DVD player and some computer games (hubby would have to give you the details !!) Digital Internet. We can also swap our car - 7 seater if required.

Who we are

  1. We are Caroline and Colm a married working couple with 4 kids Alishia (14 years), Killian (11 years), Kayla (8 years) and Liam (6 year).

  2. I am Head of Recruitment in a leading Professional Services Firm and Colm is in the Police force. Alishia is in secondary school in her 2nd year. She loves drama and is studying piano but at the moment loves makeup more than anything else :) Killian, Kayla and Liam are in primary school. Killian loves all sport but his favourite is rugby. Kayla loves her drama class and gymnastics and Liam enjoys karate. They all love good movies but most of all they love the water! Any holiday for them that is great involves water or theme parks so if your home is near either we are on to a winner. They are well behaved and we will take excellent care of your home. We have a cat (Lily) and it would be great if you could take care of it but if that is a problem we can arrange for care elsewhere.

  3. We live in the countryside which is tranquil but still close enough to towns and cities that we are not far from the action. We love our home and are looking forward to sharing it with you.
We are open to any offers during the holidays which I have marked on the calendar. Ideally we can do a simultaneous swap. Our preference is for a minimum of a week although in summer we could go for 3-4 weeks if we planned far enough in advance. Just ask what you are thinking and I will be very honest and quick with my reply.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live on a narrow road in a small valley with the local church at the end of the road. Although we live ruraly we are really close to lots of wonderful historical sites, shopping, Dublin and the airport. The Hill of Tara is only 10 minutes from our home and Newgrange is only 25 minutes away. Closer again is Skryne Castle which has one of the oldest pubs in Ireland beside it and serves one of the best pint of Guinness in the land! Navan is our local town (10 minutes away)and it has some great restaurants and lots of night life for those interested.

Blanchardstown is the largest shopping mall to us and it also boasts bowling, theatre and cinema. Dublin is only 45 minutes from us and it's an easy day trip. The Phoenix Park is the largest park in Europe and it holds Dublin Zoo (which is a great day out), The Aras (Presidents House), The American Embassy and other places of interest. You can hire bicycles and look for the dear and maybe bring a picnic! If you like to play golf the Royal Tara Golf Club is only 15 minutes from our home and boasts one of the best courses in the country. Also there the Golf Club at Killeen Castle which was created by Jack Nicklaus and has the first Dave Petz Scoring Game School outside of the US. The Solheim Cup was held here in September 2011. Fishing is another popular sport in our area and we can provide you with lots of information on where to go. Tayto Park is the largest theme park in Ireland with our only rollercoaster and also a small zoo. This is only 10 minutes from our home. There are numerous Art Galleries, Theatres and museums like Kilmainham Gaol in Dublin and other activities like the Viking Splash Tour which is great fun! Belfast is only a couple of hours away and boasts the Titanic Museum and great shopping. Wicklow is the Garden County and one that we visit regularly. If you enjoy hiking or mountain climbing this is a must and its only one hour away. Glendalough is also located in the Wicklow Mountains. Ireland is not a large country and most places are within reach if you want to in a day (although you might be tired with all the driving!). Galway - 2.5 hours, Kilkenny 2 hours, Cork 3 hours, Clare 3 hours, Cavan 1 hour, Kerry 3 hours. I will prepare a folder with information for any house swaps. Dublin Airport is closest to us but we are only 2 hours from Belfast where it can be cheaper to fly into. We look forward to swapping homes with you!
