Our home

This cosy cottage is mostly used by family and friends when they come to visit us and is a real home away from home. Because we live nearby, this cottage is available for a non simultaneous exchange. The open plan living / dining area is spacious and bright and the kitchen area has brand new appliances. There is a double bedroom, a bedroom with two singles and a bedroom with bunk beds, a cot is also available. The cottage is centrally located yet in a quiet private road with no passing traffic and the gardens are safe for children to play in. There is a large picnic table and seats to enjoy the sunshine in the sheltered garden. The cottage is just a 5 minute walk from the village centre for all amenities. Schull is 100 km. from both Cork Airport and Ferryport and Kerry Airport.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 4 - my husband David is a graphic designer and Jackie is a school secretary at the local Community College. Our 2 children are now young adults but sometimes travel with us. We are looking forward to exchanging houses in new areas of the world we have not visited as it seems like a brilliant way of travelling to interesting places that we might not normally get to see!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Schull is a beautiful small coastal village nestled between the foothills of Mount Gabriel and the harbour on West Cork's Mizen Peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way. It is an excellent base for watersports and the area is rich in archaeological remains. The village has a wonderful friendly atmosphere and is an ideal place to stay or use as a base for touring West Cork and Kerry's beautiful peninsulas and islands. Schull village contains everything you might need - shops, mobile bank, post office, pharmacy, restaurants, pubs, tennis courts, children's playgrounds and the pier with ferries to Cape Clear and Sherkin Islands. (All 5 minutes walk from the cottage). The village hotel has an indoor swimming pool and the local Community College has a Planetarium, Sailing Centre and squash courts. There is boat hire available at the Pier and boat trips around the islands and the Fastnet Lighthouse. Every Sunday from Easter to October there is a local country market selling arts, crafts and locally produced foods. Schull is within easy reach of sandy beaches and countryside.
