Our home

I am situated about a one hour drive west of Galway city. My home is set amidst the rugged Connemara landscape with sea and mountain views. The property is one of five set in a large but secluded spot. The two focal points of the property are the lounge, which has three very comfortable and luxurious sofas, a stone fireplace with a wood burning stove and six windows overlooking the sea and mountains; ideal for relaxing after a day exploring the beauty of Connemara!. Double doors lead to a large office/sitting room with very large picture windows looking directly to the sea and mountains. The room has a large sloping atrium with 4 velux windows set in high. Large double doors lead to a large luxury dining kitchen with oak units, washing machine, tumble drier, dishwasher, microwave, electric oven with gas hob, and steam oven. All of downstairs has tiled floors and all of upstairs has beautiful oak flooring.

There is high speed wireless internet access and a printer.

The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom, the double and the twin room have their bathrooms next to the bedrooms. The double guest room has a settee (as well as a double bed) which can make into a double futon. The master bedroom has a chair (as well as a king bed) which can be made into a single futon.

Directly from the property you can enjoy walks, treks and cycling along the quiet country lanes and to the nearby harbours on the picturesque coast. There is a patio round two sides of the house so you can move the furniture to catch the sun!

Come to Garafin and experience the special energy of the land and air and enjoy the beauty of the everchanging light and sky. This is a place to nourish yourself.

Who we are

  1. Hi there, this is Geraldine. I am English and relocated to Connemara 14 years ago having been captivated by its energy, its beauty, its silence, its peace and its power. Many artists and poets live here because of the energy of the landscape and the clarity and beauty of the changing light. I have my own business much of which I can do online. I have audio and online coaching programmes for women, around the areas of managing the home/work juggle and leadership. I am also a Celebrant and do sacred ceremonies for weddings, funerals and baby blessings and I am a Reiki master.

Where I live is beautiful at any time of the year. Some say it always rains in Ireland but in my 14 years here I haven't noticed there is the rain that people warned me about. And snow is very rare. During the whole of the winter of 2011/12 there was only one day of frost! And although I didn't move to Connemara for the weather, there is nothing better than sitting in front of a wood burning stove looking at the changing landscape as the tide comes in and out and the mist descends and then disperses. There is usually some sun every day winter or summer and the lush green in summer is gorgeous to behold.

I used to rent out this house before I decided to live in it and guests would say that they never really wanted to leave the house!

I am very happy to offer my home so that others can be as nourished here as I am.
