Our home

Our home is set on a half acre of developed lawns and secure fencing, as well has having a half acre slope which holds a children's play area, a wild berry garden and a graveled 'outdoor fire' setting. The house itself is as cozy as can be. The porch area and downstairs bathroom allow for the traffic of the outdoor life, inside. The open plan interior creates a sociable yet cozy environment. The wooden staircase leads up to the two bedrooms, both with adjoining bathrooms. Wooden floors run throughout. A pot belly stove emanates heat, teamed with central heating and 100% insulation. The partially stone interior, oak furniture and in-house jacuzzi allows for luxury while maintaining the quaint Irish experience.

Who we are

  1. I am Lisa Noone in a family of 3 and I have two daughters aged 13 and 10. I am a school teacher working in teachers professional development. I love to travel and in earlier years managed a few eventful trips. I love camping, own a campervan and 'get away' whenever we get the chance. I really like the idea of the house swap as I, and the girls, have long holidays from school and so we'd like to experience another culture in a more permanent way than just the usual two week holiday. We'd like to get to know our fellow exchangers as this would ease the swap over in a variety of ways. And on this note, we have extended family living in the Sligo area here, so if visitors needed guidance or help, they could be contacted for support. Look forward to the experience!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Situated on a hillside overlooking the hills of the nearby Lough Key Forest park, our home is ideally located on a 'cul-de-sac' lane (no traffic) one mile from one of our nationally reknowned folk parks which hosts Irish folk festivals throughout the year. Riverstown is located in the heart of 'Coleman' music country, the heartland of traditional music, dance and dramatic talent. Music, sean nos dancing and trad sessions are commonplace in the locality. Also in the village are such local amenities as shops, church, football pitch, chinese takeaway, hairdressers, butchers, chemist, large playground and of course the local nightlife by way of family run pubs. In the vicinity are the Carrowkeel Cairns, Keish Caves, Kilronan Castle, Markree Castle, forest and mountain walks, and Lough Key Forest Park (15 mins by car) which hosts an array of water sports and adventure activities. The city of Sligo (10 mins by car) hosts nightlife second to none, the quality of local talent in music, art and craft is of international standards, craft fests are commonplace and are a feast to the senses, not to mention the famous world class Strandhill Surf! The North West itself is steeped in archaeological sites and Celtic folklore. With easy access to main roads leading to Dublin and Galway, from here, Ireland is your oyster!
