Our home

The house is a 3 bedroomed (2 en-suites) detached bungalow on a working sheep farm with spectacular views. It can accommodate 6 visitors in comfort. Pulled threads on the comfy chair attest to the fact that 'Kitty' also calls this her home. Our horse 'Kaiser' lives in the field below the house. You may find him peeping into the bedroom when you pull the curtains in the morning. Two of the bedrooms are particularly suitable for children but will be able to accommodate adults as well.

The living room has all modern AV equipment such as stereo, blueray DVD player and satellite TV to UK and European stations, Internet and Wifi mobile broadband (if required). We also have an electric piano should you feel inclined.

The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. We have a garden with a slide and climbing tower, as well as a patio and barbecue for sunny afternoons. Should it be rainy you can light our wood stove and read by the fireside.

We can also provide you with bicycles, children's seats and helmets for interesting outings.

Who we are

  1. We are a married couple with two young children aged 6 and 4. Before their arrival we backpacked around the world, hosted and stayed with couchsurfers. The change in circumstances requires us to discover new places at a slower pace, which we hope home exchanging will allow us to do. This is us on top of the Sugarloaf in Wicklow. If you are lucky you might get to climb it in sunshine.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are located 50 km south of Dublin which can be easily reached by car, bus or train. A day-trip to the capital is a must. You might want to consider leaving the car behind to avoid the hassle of finding and paying for parking.

In Wicklow you can explore the spectacular, rugged wilderness of the Wicklow mountains and the Uplands National Park, visit the lakes and the churches of the monastic site in Glendalough and enjoy the beaches and dunes of Brittas Bay.

Enniskerry & Powerscourt House, Gardens and Waterfall make a superb destination and Avoca village (the TV series 'Ballykissangel' was set here) are just a short drive away. Visit the aboretum of Kilmacurragh and the gardens at Mount Usher in Ashford. Here you also enjoy the Devil's Glen outdoor sculptural park that is set along a tail through a lovely forest. A walk around Roundwood reservoir is recommended and should be celebrated with a pint in one of the inviting pubs in Ireland 'highest' village.

You can play Golf at a number of golf clubs in the garden county. the Wicklow Golf club and the European and Druid's Glen amongst many others are within easy reach. Many equestrian centres like Belair in Ashford offer riding lesson and hacks into the countryside for more experienced riders. Other activities to enjoy include fishing, swimming, sailing and surfing.

Wicklow town is a thriving local centre and harbour, where you can visit the restored historic Gaol from 1702, a fascinating reconstruction of prison life prior to transportation to penal colonies.
