The other room contains a single bed. There is also an upstairs bathroom. Downstairs we have a large Kitchen/dining room, sitting room with LCD TV, DVD and we have Netflix and a play room containing a piano. There is a seperate utility room with washing machine and dryer and another toilet.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are Maura and Wally, both professionals. We have three children, a boy aged 21 who lives in Galway city. We have a girl aged 18 who is in college and a 16 year old girl who is still in school. For this exchange we will probably only have our youngest with us. We have had three very successful exchanges in the past to the Netherlands, France and Spain when the children (and us) were younger.

We enjoy the outdoors and two years ago we year we spent a very enjoyable week on the Camino de Santiago in Spain.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

In front of the house is a large green area where the children can play safely. Local shops are less than 5 minutes walk. Oranmore village has many local pubs and restaurants and is only a 5 minute walk away. Oranmore is ideally located as a touring base for the Burren, Cliffs of Moher area as well as being close to Galway city and Connemara. Galway city is a vibrant university town built on the river Corrib and with a long promenade from the city along Galway Bay. Galway is situated at the midway point of the Wild Atlantic Way see link below. Galway is only 5 miles away and is easily accessible by car or by a regular bus service which stops 3 minutes walk away from house.

In Sept 2015, Galway was rated "The Friendliest City in the World" according to this article http://www.today.com/money/planning-vacation-travel-leisure-ranks-worlds-friendliest-cities-t42186. Not sure how this can be measured but we can vouch that it is a wonderful friendly place and well worth a visit.

See article in the guardian newspaper highlighting some of what Galway has to offer .. http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2014/feb/03/a-day-in-galway-ireland-city-guide .
