Our home

Our home is large, clean, comfortable and very welcoming. We have 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a seperate wc on the ground floor. We also have a large airy kitchen where we eat and an adjoining sunroom complete with gas fired stove which is perfect for relaxing in the sun or reading/chatting in the evenings. The house is surrounded by lawns, trees and shrubs which make up our beautiful country garden - perfect for barbecues or a glass of wine after a busy day sightseeing. Although in a rural setting you are just 5 minutes drive from the main town of Athlone. We also have a mobile home located on a beachside campsite at the foot of the breathtaking Burren in west County Clare.

Who we are

  1. Hi I'm Geraldine and my husband Eoin and I are both lecturers in a 3rd level college in Athlone. We share our home with our 4 children Adam (14), David(13), Srephen (10) and Hannah (7). Our interests include gardening, walking, fishing and gaelic football. We love travelling and would love to be able to exchange with a family of similar profile.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our area has the best of both worlds as we are living in a country setting but we are only 5 minutes drive from the town centre of Athlone. The town and its environs have approximately 25,000 inhabitants. Athlone has the benefit of the River Shannon flowing directly through the centre and is bordereed also by Lough Ree - famous for water sports and fishing. There are lots of lovely restaurants/coffee shops for dinging out - formal and informal not to mention good shopping facilities. You are located exactly half way between Dublin and Galway - both of which have excellent public transport links (bus/rail) for day/weekend trips.
