Our home

Our house, built by my husband,is on a beautiful elevated site overlooking the unspoilt rolling hills. This is a very peaceful rural area but only 3.5 miles from a busy market town, with just under an hours' drive to Dublin on motorway. This house is heaven in the summer months, with magnificent sunsets to be enjoyed in the evenings. It remains very private. The house is very warm and inviting. The addition of our beautiful conservatory enables us to enjoy the sunsets to the fullest. We have lovely views from each of our front rooms and a private cosy garden at the back. We have two fireplaces, one log burner in the conservatory and an open fireplace in our snug, favourite, sitting room which has been tastefully decorated. The kitchen has an oil-fired range, which also heats the radiators. Our kitchen is spacious and comfortable with all the conveniences, which also has a couch near a patio door leading to the garden. We have a flat screen TV and internet access. We also have own a mobile home on one of the best beaches in Ireland on the West coast, in Enniscrone, Co. Sligo, which, subject to availability, may be used on your visit. The drive is very scenic, taking two and half hours.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of six with our children grown and left home now. Some of the family have emigrated to Canada and hence our idea to put our house up for house swap. We are now getting to an age when we will be free to travel. My husband is a builder by trade and built our wonderful family home himself. This is a happy house! I love this house and so do our visitors! I work as a Nurse in our local hospital and my husband is still building. We have many friends and good neighbours all of whom will be only to happy to assist you with any information or help you in any way. We also have family near us to help too. We may also be able to arrange a car swap if you were agreeable to this. You will need a car here but everything is very accessible at the same time ...a day out in Dublin! Do come and see for yourselves!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

This is an ideal location with easy access to Dublin, the airport taking just over an hour. We are also just an hour and a half away from Galway on the new motorway, N6. We are in the lakelands of Ireland. We can introduce you to some lovely private spots for swimming in the many lakes only a few miles from here. This is a fisherman's paradise and we can put you in touch with local boat hire. The Shannon river is just but 40 minutes away in nearby Athlone town. There are many historical places to visit e.g. Fore Abbey and Belvedere Gardens to name a few. There are beautiful walks around the lakes and along the Grand Canal and even on our doorstep. The Slievebloom mountains are just an hour away, as are the Dublin mountains and Wicklow.
