Our home

This is a happy and tranquil house, located in one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is close to a lovely village - Moycullen and Ireland's most popular city - Galway. The house is spacious and was built 150 years ago as part of an old steam railway line. It has been fully refurbished but still retains all of its original charm. It has a blazing fireplace and chefs kitchen overlooking the sunny terrace. The gardens outside the house are spectacular in Summer with thousands of flowers. The chickens are quiet and provide eggs each day in return for a little food. There is a large lake behind the house and green fields and woods on each side.

Who we are

  1. Bernadette and David work in the University. Kitty is a young teenager. We love gardens, architecture, old cities, old bistros, wine, walking, reading and history. Our greatest pleasures are cooking and eating great food together - fish, salads, wine. Ireland has wonderful fish. We like to walk in beautiful country locations or old cities.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The local village, Moycullen, is 5 minutes away and has an artisan bakery, excellent restaurants, wine shops and of course great Irish pubs. The village has a farmers market each Friday and modern supermarket with lots of fresh fish, cheese, bread, vegetables and great wines. The house and village is set within the region of Connemara. This is Irelands most attractive and beautiful landscapes with amazing hill walking. Galway City is 15 minutes drive away. Galway is Irelands most popular tourist city. There are fantastic shops, restaurants, pubs and of course music. It is a medieval city, full of charm and lots of summer festivals. There are many day trips to beaches, mountains, lakes and country side. The most popular trips include: Aran Islands, Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Cliften, Cong and many more. There is no end to beautiful and active things to do. Irish weather is very agreeable for active people. Temperatures vary between 15-25 degrees in Summer. The rain provides water for all the flowers and grass. On occasions the rain can be stubborn but these are good times for hill walking, golfing, horse riding and to visit the shops and pubs. Life is too short to spend under the hot sun!
