Our home

Our home is a 4 bedroomed dormer bungalow set on a lovely wooded site. We are in a very friendly rural neighbourhood between the villages of Moycullen and Oughterard. Our house is set on a half acre site with trees to the front and a large wooden deck to the rear.

There are 4 bedrooms, a master bedroom with ensuite, a double bedroom and two single rooms.

The living areas consist of a kitchen come dining room, a large family living room and a sunroom. There is also a play room with lots of toys for children and a gym with a cross trainer, an exercise bike and a weights system.

Outside there is a large south facing deck area which is a real suntrap and barbecuing facilities. There is also lots of outdoor entertainment for children including a large trampoline and a tyre swing! There are children's and adults bikes too!

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 4. My husband works for a medical device company and I'm a full-time mum to our two kids who are 14 and 12.

We have completed 4 very enjoyable exchanges to date. We will of course make every effort to ensure that whoever we swap with will feel welcome in our home and have a wonderful holiday here in Ireland.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our house is about 15km from Galway city and is between the villages of Moycullen and Oughterard. It is ideally situated as you can be in Galway city within 20 minutes and be out in the wilds of Connemara in 20 minutes in the opposite direction.

There is so much to do and see in the local area which make it a great place to explore. For the outdoors types there is hillwalking, mountain climbing and fantastic fishing on nearby lakes and rivers. Within a 15km radius there are three mountain biking trails through lovely forests, with fun for any age from young children to adults. You can also be at a beach in 20 minutes with a huge choice of beaches to cater for everyone.

The vibrant city of Galway is approximately 15km away. Many festivals run throughout the summer including the famous Galway Arts Festival and Galway Races. The city centre has a great buzz and lots of character and is steeped in history. It is also full of great little restaurants where you can sample amazing local produce.

Within a 15 minute drive past Oughterard, you are in the wilds of Connemara with it's beautiful unique scenery. Heather covered mountains reflect in the crystal clear lakes. There are many lovely towns and fishing villages for daytrips including Roundstone and Clifden.

This area has something for everyone to provide a fun filled yet relaxing holiday!
