Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our house is located in a quite rural village in Monaterboice with a local shop/store, church and school and just 9.6km away from the town of Drogheda, with a population of approximately 80,000. The town of Drogheda is situated in an area with an abundance of archaeological monuments dating from the Neolithic period onwards, of which the large Passage Tombs of Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth are probably the best known. There are also an abundace of restaurants, pubs, shops, public transport network and has a lively nightlife. Just 2 minutes drive from us is the impressive ruins of Monasterboice including a large cemetery, two churches, one of the tallest round towers in Ireland and two of the tallest and best high crosses and is located approx a mile away. It has many interesting features to explore, but the clear highlights are its superb high crosses. Like murals and church sculptures, these are magnificent examples of Celtic art. Also, Monasterboice Inn, famous for its steaks and fine dining is approx 2miles away. The Monasterboice Inn, also called Donegan's, is frequently visited by celebrities, both national and international.
