Our home

Our home is exactly that - a home, full of children fun and laughter (or noise !!!) depending on the time of day!! We have lived here for 10 years. We have extended the back of our home to gain living space, with 3 children getting bigger than ourselves space is what we required. Our home has 4 double rooms 1 ensuite and a family bath room. Downstairs there is a play/XBox room,a toilet, a sitting room with open fire and an open plan kitchen, dining, and sitting room at the back which opens by double doors into our garden. We also have a piano in the computer section of the kitchen.

Who we are

  1. Hello there! My name is Dearbhla & I am a Garda (Police Officer)and my husband, Paul is a teacher, we have 3 children Paul, Donnacha & Nell. We have lived in Maynooth for 15 years and love our town and all it offers. Our sons are sports mad and are members of our local GAA Club (This is the a sports body which plays Irish sports such as Hurling & Gaelic Football) they also play rugby. Our daughter is beginning to join things and is currently doing drama and learning Gaelic & camogie (the female version of hurling). My husband is a flying instructor which he does out of a local airport. We love to entertain and throughout the summer we barbecue and gather in our back garden. Our son Paul is studing spanish currently and we would love to visit Spain and experience its culture as part of a community. However we have been on holiday to France for the past 2 years and have throughly enjoyed the experience so France or anywhere warm / sunny please. We are excited by all the places we could go to and the USA is calling in the near future!!! This is our first year exchanging homes and although nervous, we will treat your home as we treat our own. We are looking forward to the experience. Another adventure, further memories !

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Maynooth is a historic town situated west of Dublin (approx 20 miles). Maynooth is also a University Town and as such we have a very good train service into Dublin and to the West of Ireland. Carton House is now an Hotel and Golf Club with two championship courses and is open to the public with a driving range also available. Maynooth itself has some wonderful family restaurants and as Maynooth is situated on the Grand Canal we have a harbour area which has a play area for young children and teenagers alike all within walking distance of our home. Further afield we are 2 1/2 hours from the west of Ireland so Galway Bay and the Cliffs of Moher in Clare are only a short drive away! Kilkenny with its wonderful castle is only 1 1/2 hours drive. The east coast with all its villages such as Greystones in the south of Dublin and Malahide in the North with their wonderful seafood restaurants are 40 mins either way. So as you can see Maynooth is at the heart of Ireland and all she has to offer.
