Our home

Our house is called "Radharc" which in the Irish language means "the view". We have stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean from almost every room in the house and from the balcony terrace. In fact you can even lie back in the hot tub and see the Atlantic Ocean stretch out in front of you.......next landmass New York!! The house has an acre of garden and the hot tub is very private. Because of the rural setting its a very good spot to star gaze and we have a great telescope for this purpose, at night you can see the lights of 3 lighthouses on the surrounding peninsulas.
The house itself is very luxurious and cosy with underfloor heating, a wood burning stove and a large fireplace with a shed full of turf which is included. It has a state of the art "Chalon" bespoke kitchen with every convenience including an AGA cooker. The utility room has a washing machine and dryer.
Two of the bedrooms are ensuite with large walk in showers, one a power shower and the other an electric shower with constant hot water. The master ensuite also has a double ended freestanding bath from which you can see the ocean. The third bathroom has a shower and bathtub also.
As well as the 4 bedrooms we have a reading room, sun porch, mezzanine study and kids playroom with air hockey and small table tennis table. We have a lot of board games too. 3 of the bedrooms have double beds and the 4th has twin beds. All have electric blankets. We offer a car with our swap.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a couple in our early 50's with 2 children aged 15 and 16 years. We love to travel and are particularly interested in holidaying in Spanish and French speaking countries where we can combine some language learning opportunities with our vacationing. We would like to be in a coastal area or to have a private pool if possible. As this is our second home, swaps do not have to be simultaneous. We have had several very successful swaps and have had repeat visits from some of our guests.

  2. Martin is the director of a Human Rights organisation and Helen is an Interior Designer

  3. We love to explore new cities and countryside, to eat good food and wine and to practice our languages. Our children love to swim, read and be with friends.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Donegal, the part of Ireland where we are situated has recently been given the title " Coolest place on the planet" by National Geographic. Situated on an elevated site at Malin Head, Ireland's most northerly point, this house enjoys stunning sea views and is close to many beautiful beaches and world class golf courses. Ballyliffin Golf Club is 20 minutes by car and an hour takes you to Royal Portrush. Derry City, the UKs city of Culture for 2013 is a 45 min drive. We are a 90 minute drive from Belfast city which would make for a fascinating cultural and educational daytrip. The area is ideal for hill walkers, divers, cyclists, surfers and all "outdoorsy" types. The beaches and coastal drives are truly stunning. At night we can offer traditional Irish music and a pint of Guiness with some amazing seafood. The area is an ideal holiday destination for those who aren't necessarily seeking sunshine, as unfortunately we can't guarantee that even in summer!!
