Our Home
Our family home is located in the lovely seaside village of Malahide on the outskirts of Dublin City. In 2011 we undertook a major building work to extend and renovate the entire house. It is now a house of circa 1800 square feet and has been fully modernised. The hosuse is part of an estate of homes beside a large green area and 500 metres from sandy beaches. Semi-detached, it has a downstairs living room, large new open-plan kitchen/dining area, study and two sunroom extensions to rear with patio. There is a utililty room and bathroom off the kitchen. Upstairs is a master bedroom with ensuite wc/shower and four smaller bedrooms. There is also a large bathroom with bath, electric shower & twin sinks. Downstairs are oak floors downstairs and carpet upstairs. We have two TVs with cable channels, DVD players, and a variety of kids accessories , adult & kid bikes, Wii, Play Station etc). In our view this is the perfect place for a family to come stay and enjoy a holiday with daily choices of city sights or countryside adventures, 7-seater People Carrier Grand C4 Picasso Automatic with sunroof available to swap. Put a large Log Cabin in back garden in 2015 complete with full size Table Tennis table. We exchanged with a family in Beauvais France in 2011, Nimes France in 2012, Denmark 2013, Southern France 2015, Canada 2016 and Switzerland 2017.

Who we are

  1. Myself (Paul) and Liz have lived here for 16 years, after returning from 5 years living in the Middle East, in order to raise our 4 children (eldest 20 18-year old twins & a 11 year old). I am a HR Executive in a University and Liz works as a nurse part-time in addition to bearing most of the responsibilities of raising our 4 boys. We chose Malahide because it is part of the Capital city Dublin but is on the outskirts with easy access to the surrounding areas of countryside. The airport is 15 minutes away and Malahide is also very close to the main motorway around the city and connects to routes out of the city. Ireland is relatively small and the recent upgrade of the motorway network means you can get to the South / West or North of the island in 2-3 hours. We are an active family and regularly use the nearby Malahide Castle park for sport and recreation. We make regular day trips to the nearby Wicklow mountains and coastline up to Northern Ireland & the Mourne mountains in Northern Ireland. Our own beaches are a short walk and where we regularly go to swim and just relax. Ours is a child & teenager friendly house and area, lots of bicycles, toys, games, PS3, Wii & Xbox and lots of amenities nearby. Ideal swap for a family with children of a similar age and outdoor interests.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Malahide is a seaside village which has developed into a small town but retains a very unique character. It is renowned for its choice of restaurants and amenities, very much a place where families raise their children. During the summer it is busy and a place where people take day trips to due to its "village" feel and ease of access to safe swimming areas. Day trips can be taken by motorway to Northern Ireland (about 1-hour to cross the border), the Wicklow Mountains (45 minutes) and Malahide is also connected by electric train to the centre of Dublin (25 minutes). There are a range of museums and other interesting place to visit in Dublin (including Dublin Zoo in the Phoenix Park).
