Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Louisburgh, Co. Mayo is located on the west coast and remains relatively unspoilt with plenty of things to do. It is a friendly area with shops, restaurants and several pubs. It is located close to several blue flag beaches along with several other deserted beaches great for long walks. Roonagh Pier is located 6.5km away and is the starting point for boat trips to Clare Island and Inishturk.
Louisburgh is an ideal based for discovering the west of Ireland: Galway, Connemara, Clifden and Achill Island are all within 1.5hours drive
Louisburgh is located on The Bunowen River. Fishing is very popular here along with other rivers close by such as the Carrowniskey, Erriff and Delphi. For those wanting sea angling, trips run from Westport.

There are numerous walks and bike trails in the area. The Great Western Greenway is 42km off road walking and cycling trail. A converted disused rail line, it starts in Westport, passing through Newport and Mulranny before finishing in Achill. With lots of cycle hire shops around you can do as much or as little as you want.

For the hill walkers there are lots of walks in the Mweelreas, Nephins and Sheeffry mountains, or climb the holy mountain of Croagh Patrick where St Patrick is said to have completed his 40 day Lenten ritual of fasting and penance.

There are many adventure centres offering lots of activities such as kayaking, rope climbing, coasteering, zip wires and more.

Westport is our nearest large town (20km away) where there is a tourist office, restaurants, pubs, shopping and attractions such as Westport House.
