Our home

My home is an architect-designed new build (2 years), very comfortable and warm. 140 m2. The living area is open plan with a sun-room at the end - plenty of seating all round. There is a study with 2 computers. The garden is very small and would not need maintenance. There are two spacious bedrooms and 1 small one. The en-suite bathroom is shared by two bedrooms.
It may not be ideal for very young children, as I am a widow living alone. On the other hand, my Aussie grandchildren were here for a month at Christmas and managed not to destroy the place.

Who we are

  1. As mentioned, I am a widow, living alone and working from home as a translator.

The dates I listed are somewhat flexible. I am planning a 12-week trip that will include other destinations. My own home will be available for the duration of my trip, which will end at the end in early May (the only fixed date).

I would like to spend a minimum of 4 weeks and a maximum of 5 in the exchange home - as close to the sea as possible. I would like to work for some of the period and would need access to a computer with a broadband connection, and a printer. I hope that my daughter and her family (including 2 girls aged 2 and 5 - or 3 and 6 in 2008) could visit at weekends. They live in Melbourne. I can also visit them of course.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

It is within walking distince of the village of Leixlip, Co. Kildare. While not exactly rural, it is only a few miles from the country-side and is a good launching pad for Galway/Mayo/Sligo. Outside peak traffic hours, Dublin city can be reached in 40 minutes. There are several golf courses within a few miles and the prestigious K-Club, host to the 2006 Ryder Cup is approx. 7 miles away.
