Who we are

  1. We are a family of five, an accountant, teacher and three children aged 9, 10 and 12. We also have a rabbit and a dog who live outside. They'll be staying with friends, unless you would prefer to look after them! We had a very enjoyable and successful exchange to Barcelona last year.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live near the village of Kilcummin, 15 minutes' drive from Killarney, and 30 minutes from Tralee. Killarney www.killarney.ie is one of Ireland's top tourist towns, with pubs, traditional music, golf, fishing, mountains and lakes. You can visit 13th century Ross Castle, or Muckross House and gardens (both about 20 minutes from us). There is lots of good hiking in Killarney National Park, and we can provide you with maps and guidebooks, as well as suggestions for less strenuous and interesting walks with young children. We have 2 adult and 3 children's bicycles which will fit on the car. Bicycle hire is also widely available in Killarney, and there are some paved, traffic-free cycle tracks in the National Park.
There are good restaurants in Killarney, especially in the many 4 and 5 star hotels, which also have swimming pools/spas which are open to the public.
There is an indoor waterpark in Tralee www.aquadome.ie, one of Ireland's largest.
There are beaches at Rossbeigh, Inch, Castlegregory, Fenit, Banna and Ballyheigue all within 45 minutes to one hour. Some are suitable for surfing.
Further away, but worth a visit, is Dingle (1 hour) where you can take a trip out to see Fungi the dolphin, or visit Oceanworld www.dingle-oceanworld.ie
Kerry Airport (15 mins.) has daily flights to Dublin, Stansted, Luton, and frequent flights to Frankfurt Hahn, Manchester, Faro and Alicante. Cork and Shannon Airports are 1.5/2 hours away. Trains and buses to Dublin, Limerick and Cork leave from Killarney.
