Our home

Our home was built in 1985, architecturally designed in a traditional style. It is bright clean and airy with a floor area of 225 square meters which includes a recently constructed modern living/dining area. There are three bedrooms (one en-suite), with a large open-plan kitchen/dining/living area, one medium sized lounge area, one bathroom and one separate toilet at ground floor level. At first floor level there is a large office area with broadband and a TV room with cable TV connected to overhead projector.
As the house is built on the shoreline all living and sleeping areas have uninterrupted views of Galway Bay with a panoramic view from the upstairs windows..

Please note that we have a beautiful rural holiday home in the Charente area of France which we would be very interested to exchange also so it could be a two destination exchange if things worked out! Details on the French home are on the panel opposite. It is nice with a lovely climate.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a family of four;

    Mossy (67), Anne (Younger), Eithne(27) and Paddy(23).

    I have recently retired from work as a lecturer in Civil Engineering, Anne is a Social Worker. Eithne has now taken up employment with Emirates Airlines so she will have many independent travel opportunities and will no longer be part of our exchange plans. Paddy is a third level student and part-time trainee manager at a local hotel. Accordingly, he too would be an unlikely traveller. It really depends on what comes up, and when.

    Alas, we no longer look quite as young as in the accompanying photograph which was taken a few years ago but we still bear a passing resemblance.
    We are experienced exchangers(San Diego, San Francisco, Maine, Chicago, Brittany, Montpelier, Cannes). We take good care of our exchange homes and know that the same would apply to the people with whom we exchange.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in Roscam, a rural area three miles south east of Galway city.
Less than 15 minutes drive from the city center, yet distinctly rural in character with lovely shoreline or woodland walks right at our doorstep.

Galway is the capital of the west of Ireland and is widely regarded as one of,(if not the) most desirable vacation locations in Ireland.
A relatively small city,it is young and vibrant in character with a bohemian air. The city is renowned for its many festivals, restaurants,theatres, shops, pubs, sporting facilities and learning institutes. It is the ideal base for touring the countless tourist attractions of the west of Ireland such as Connemara, The Burren, The Aran Islands, The cliffs of Moher.
