Our home

Hi, our house is in a quiet cul-de-sac behind Spiddal village on the northern coastline of Galway Bay and is just twenty minutes from Galway city. The house is one of 18 set in a horse-shoe style cul-de-sac with an open green area out front for children to play. The house has all the usual mod-cons and sleeps 6. The house has four bedrooms upstairs and a large kitchen and living room downstairs. The master bedroom is en-suite. There is also two single bedrooms and a twin bedroom. There is a raised decking area out back which faces west and the setting sun. The gardens are well kept and there is a child's swing and slide out back. On the green area out front there are many bikes and footballs which all the children of the cul-de-sac share.

Who we are

  1. Hi, we are Patricia and Mike Maycock, a married couple with four children (two teens and two much younger). Patricia is an IT professional, while I am a stay-at-home Dad. We really enjoyed our home exchange holiday some years back and now that the babies are a bit older, we are ready to go again.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Spiddal is located 10 miles west of Galway city on the northern coastline of Galway Bay. Although the language spoken locally is Irish, everyone also speaks English. Being a tourist destination, Spiddal village consists of many traditional Irish pubs and restaurants. There are two beaches and two harbours within walking distance of my house. Other attractions a bit further afield include the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran Islands, and stunning Connemara itself. For more infomation on Spiddal see http://spiddal.galway-ireland.ie/
