Our home

Our home is spacious, clean and comfortable. It has a large kitchen and dining area complete with antique stove. The separate living / sitting room has a big open solid fuel fireplace, tv, dvd, computer with internet etc. A double bedroom, full bathroom and games room complete the downstairs accommodation. Upstairs we have one large double bedroom, three single rooms and a large shower room. The garden of approx 1/2 acre has many trees and plants but still has room for a trampoline, swing and slide - suitable for children of all ages. On the rear patio area we have a garden table, seating for 6, parasol and charcoal barbeque, ideal for passing away the long summer evenings.

  1. My husband Mike and I are in our early forties and have three children, Sarah 18, Robert 14 and Grace 13. Mike is a self employed truck mechanic. I keep the office ticking over! We have previously exchanged homes with families from Nice, Florida, Georgia, Hollywood and Rhode Island. . All were great experiences. We can travel pretty much any time from mid June to late August for a two week period.

Our home is situated 15 miles from Galway city in a rural area. The village of Clarenbridge, famous for its oyster festival is 4 miles away where one can visit Paddy Burkes pub and other fine pubs and restaurants. The villages of Oranmore on Galway Bay and Craughwell, home to the Blazers fox hounds and hunt are both also 4 miles away. St Clearns, previous home of the late John Huston in located in Craughwell. Athenry Heritage Town is again 4 miles away where shopping, Restaurants, Childrens Park, Heritage Centre, Banking etc are all available. Loughrea Town is approx 10 miles away where one can enjoy the lakeside playground, fishing, shopping, restaurants etc. Galway city is a 20 minute drive, and has beaches, indoor swimming pools, theatres, restaurants, shopping, cinemas, night clubs, pubs, greyhound racing, etc etc to offer. Explore the Burren, Connemara, The Ailwee Caves or Bunratty Folk Park or take a boat trip on the river corrib, checkout Dartfield Horse Museum, enjoy oysters in Morans Oyster Cottage, play golf in one of the many local courses or take a walk in the local commonage. Take a longer trip to Athlone or Portumna on the river shannon (1 hour), Ashford Castle in Mayo (1 hour), Clifden where Alcock and Brown landed all those years ago (1.5 hours), Kerry (2.5 hours including short ferry crossing), Dublin (3 hours), or take a short flight or ferry to the Aran Islands or Boffin Island.
