Our home

Large country-style house in the middle of Ennis Town. Part of the house is from the Edwardian period with high ceilings and other charming period features. The remainder is an extension built in 2006, with an open plan design ideal for family life and socializing. Despite the fact that this house is big it feels cozy and homely.

As well as all the living space, downstairs also has separate utility room, play room, pantry and study.

The kitchen is very well equipped with a beautiful old style range (including oven and hot plates), separate electric oven, gas hob, microwave and dish washer.

The sun room has a double height ceiling overlooked by a feature landing that leads to bedroom no. 2, which has its own private balcony at the back of the house with a garden view.

Even though the house is located 5 minutes walk from the town centre, it is extremely private. The back garden is not overlooked, is large and quiet, with an orchard and plenty of space for children to play.

Property features

Who we are

  1. Our family consists of Fergal and I, Maire, two kids in college and four younger children. We are both doctors here in town. We love to walk, read and go for the odd pint of Guinness in one of the local pubs. We both thoroughly enjoy our own local traditions, music etc, and look forward to exploring other traditions wherever we travel.

We haven't tried home exchange before but have heard great things about it as a good few of our friends do it regularly. We would prefer to arrange an exchange some way in advance in order to get to know you via email first to see how best we can facilitate your stay.

Your neighbourhood

Ennis is the capital town of County Clare and the home of traditional music. It's a charming town, well known for its cafés and boutiques, and extremely friendly people. It's one of the prime tourist locations of Ireland. One of the reasons Ennis is so popular is because Clare is such an interesting and diverse county. Among its outstanding features are numerous blue flag beaches, the world renowned Cliffs of Moher, the unique ecological habitat of the Burren, the tranquil Lough Derg and its surrounding waterways.

This house is an ideal place to base yourself while exploring all the local amenities, examples include surfing in Lahinch and Spanish Point, fishing off Black Head, hill walking in the Burren, horse riding and golfing - championship courses within 30 min drive.

If you want to travel further afield we are situated 2 minutes walk from the train and bus station - Galway and Limerick are both within 1 hours journey.
