Our home

Our home is a newly built (2006) spacious dormer bungalow with a seperate self contained one bedroom apartment. The main house is approx 2200 sq ft, the apartment approx 800 sq ft. The house is well equipped with all modern conveniences that you would expect from a family home. Wooden floors throughout the main house and carpeted bedroom and sitting room in the apartment. Underfloor heating throughout. Ceiling fans in the main kitchen area and the main bedroom. Apartment has it's own seperate entrance at the side of the house with sitting room, double bedroom, kitchen/dining room and a shower room/WC. Main house has a sitting room connected to a large kitchen/dining/living room - the kitchen is well equipped with granite worktops, double oven, warming drawer, induction hob, microwave, side-by-side fridge/freezer, double drawer dishwasher, coffee machine etc. Large breakfast bar with high stools and a dining area seperate. Outside the rear garden is ideal for small kids - fenced off with lots of play equipment (swings, slide, treehouse, bikes, outdoor toys, etc.) - also ideal for pets with outhouse with dog flap. We also have a separate outhouse that is a laundry room (washing machine and dryer), a sauna, a gym with cross trainer, bike, multi-gym machine, etc. We have plenty of kids toys both indoor and outdoor (our kids are 3, 5 and 7) and also plenty of books, cds, dvds, etc. Digital cable TV - 4 flat screen TVs; Broadband internet wireless access with media PC.

Who we are

  1. We are a married couple with 3 young children (7, 5 and 3) - I run a local garden shop in the centre of the town, my husband works as an IT manager in Dublin. We have one grandparent who lives in the adjoining apartment that sometimes travels with us. We have a dog that we would like to leave on the premises but can arrange to leave elsewhere if this does not suit. We have not exchanged before. Our travel dates are restricted to late July through to end August or the last week of December through the first week of January.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in a small town (approx 5,000 population) approx 1 hours drive from Dublin (the nearest major airport) - it is a traditional market town 12 miles from the M4 Dublin/Galway motorway. The neighbourhood is a quiet, residential, settled area. The centre of the town is a 15 minute walk from the house and has a number of supermarkets, restaurants, bars, shops etc. Within the town there are lots of local amenities such as swimming pool, two golf/country clubs, gym, art schools (adults and children), canal (200 metres from house - nice walking area), kids indoor playcentre, local farmer's market (Saturday), angling, wooded walks, castle, parachute club, horse riding etc. There are many tourist attractions and larger towns to explore within an hour's drive of the town - the Curragh (home of thoroughbred horse racing and the Irish Derby), Newgrange (Stone age passage tomb in the boyne valley), Clonmacnoise, Outdoor Pursuits, Castles, Locke's Distillery Museum Kilbeggan, Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park, etc. Dublin city centre is an hour away (car swap can be provided) - there is also a good bus service every hour. Dublin has lots of attractions and is a 1 hour drive to the city centre.
