Our home

We are hoping to go to somewhere lovely in Europe this year! We like to find somewhere close to a town with family based activities close by. If possible we would like to swap with a family with children of roughly the same age as ours, 17, 16 and 13.

Ideally we would like to have access to a ground floor bathroom and bedroom, but at least a ground floor bathroom. Homes with lots of steps are not suitable for us.

What we have to offer is a modern, well designed and comfortable home - ideal for a family houseswap. We live 100 metres from the Irish Sea. A 10 minute walk brings you to the blue flag Killiney Beach.

Architect designed for our family, we have two bedrooms on the ground floor, as well as a large kitchen which is the heart of our home. We also have a big sitting room, a den for the children, a study, pantry and utility room and a large shower, bathroom. We have an open fireplace in the sitting room and a stove in the kitchen.

Second floor has another bathroom as well as the master bedroom and a single bedroom.

The garden is about. 25 acres with a swing/slide set as well as a trampoline and a small vegetable garden.

We are looking forward to hearing from you!

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 5, two adults and three children. Two boys 17 & 16, and a girl aged 13. We have done a lot of house swaps (11+) and really enjoy the freedom and experience of house swapping. We will take good care of your home and will treat it with respect.

About us - Paul is an architect working in the health area and Clare is a Special Needs Assistant who also teaches yoga.

We are a sporty family, who love the outdoors. Paul is a long distance runner and Clare loves yoga. The children enjoy football, rugby and trampolining. As a family we love food and cooking and the adults enjoy art and architecture.

We have one dog and a cat, who go on their holidays when we do, but just in case of allergies .....

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live about 100 mtrs from the beach and from our home we can take some lovely walks without having to get into the car. The nearest Blue Flag beach at Killiney is 10 minutes walk away. There is a large park, Shanganagh Park with a playground and lots of space which is lovely for a quick local walk, beside this is the tennis club which is open to non members and which runs a series of tennis camps for children in the Summer.

We are about 1 km from Shankill village which has a chemist, grocery store, pub, coffee shop, hair dresser etc. Further afield in Dun Laoghaire and Bray you can enjoy a greater choice of restaurants, theatres, cinemas, markets, shops and pier walks as well as historic places to visit.

We are located in South County Dublin, or the border of Co Wicklow. We are 5 minutes walk from Shankill train station where you can take the train into Dublin City Centre in 45 minutes. When you have had enough of the delights of Dublin you can jump in the car and in 15 minutes you can be in the beautiful Dublin Mountains with lots of waymarked trails and routes to explore. The wilder Wicklow Mountains are only a short distance further away. Some local sites not to be missed are Powerscourt Domain, Glendalough and Bray Head. See www.visitwicklow.ie for further information.
