The house is situated in a local village which is well known for its small and exclusive restaurants/deli; food and clothing stores yet is only on the doorstep (10 mins walking) of the larger town of Dun Laoghaire (from where you can take a short feerry crossing to the UK)- with a theatre, cinema and larger shopping centres. The village of sandycove is on the 'golden mile' whch includes Dalkey and Killiney (within 2 minutes drive) and is one of the most sought after areas to live in Dublin. Within 3 minutes walk of the house you are on the beautiful Dun Laoghaire promenade with a lit walkway along the seafront most suitable for the family to bring the kids cycling; rollerblading etc.. Also there is a small safe 'sandy cove' (from where the area derives it's name) very suitable for younger children to swim. The famous 40ft. is around the corner for the more adverturous swimmer. At the weekend the local park is home to the renowned 'coco markets' where local farmers bring their fresh produce to sell. The area has also bee made famous by James Joyce's Ulusses and Bloomsday is celebrated every year locally. Also close to County Wicklow (the Garden County) suitable for hillwalking/hiking.
