Our home

We offer a bright house in a friendly neighbourhood close to the centre of Dublin. We have three bedrooms in the main house and one double bed in the shed , in the main house there is

bedroom nr. 1 with a new king size memory foam bed (not in photo) looking onto grass roof garden,

bedroom nr. 2 with two single beds with its own ensuite bathroom (with 2 showers),

bedroom nr. 3 with a single bed in a small converted attic with 2 rooflights to look over the cityscape

There is an open plan ground floor with living room looking onto a small rear garden, a dining room with a small internal courtyard and a kitchen facing the front garden. The ground floor has solid fuel stove, underfloor heating and hardwood floor.

There is a rear garden shed which we use as a study space for the girls and for their friends sleeping over on a sofa bed with solid wood stove and WC with shower (which will be part used for storage, etc ). If you need there is a double bed on the mezzanine.

Who we are

  1. We are Simon and Johanna (married for 25 years) and we are both architects. We are in our early fifties with 3 children - 19 year old Ella is studying engineering at Trinity College Dublin (15 mins walk away ) and 14 year old Hanna and Sofia. We love to travel and visit new and interesting locations. We exchanged in Paris 2010, Bilbao 2011, Rome 2012, Strasbourg 2014 and London 2015 and Madrid 2017 and all were fantastic.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in a quiet cul-de-sac in a lively neighbourhood called Sandymount in Dublin city centre. Ideally located, the area is full of fantastic restaurants, gastropubs and shops. The Aviva stadium is a 30 second walk away and hosts many international stars and matches. There is a 24 hour convenience shop 1 minute away and a new artisanal grocery store on the same street. We have an adult bikes and some kids bikes to get around quicker or make a faster dash to the shops or local tourist sites. Note : We have no TV but there is a flat screen in the Living Room with a DVD player. Sandymount village and beach are both located within a 15 minute walk.

The majority of the major sites are located within 20-40 mins walk - Dublin is a walking city - 12 mins walk to the docklands; 20 mins walk into the city centre or to the back of Trinity College where the Book of Kells is kept, 12 mins walk to Wattenmeer(large expanse of coastline - great for urban coastal walks - and the light is always changing how the landscape is perceived - magic, 30 mins drive to beautiful country side in Wicklow; 5 mins walk to the Grand Canal [where the Irish literary writers took inspiration from]; 8 mins walk to Grand Canal Basin where there is a water sports school www.surfdock.ie/ ; 5 mins walk to either of two metro links (called the DART) for easy access all along east coast of Ireland with blue flag beaches, or to the bus (1, 4, 7, 7a, 15a, 15b, 47, 56a, 77a).
