Our home

A 1930's redbrick house, warm and comfortable and set back from the road. The back garden is large (for city centre), completely child friendly and sunny all day. We have swings and a slide; a patio area with raised beds planted with herbs, a large grass area for playing football, and a covered deck at the end of the garden which gets the evening sun; ideal for lazy evening meals.

Inside the house there is a porch for coats and muddy boots; a hall leading to downstairs WC / shower room; a drawing room and playroom; and a large eat-in kitchen/dining room. Off the kitchen there is a utility room and storage room for garden equipment and bikes. There is also a large downstairs bedroom overlooking the garden, which can be used as a playroom. At the moment, it has a single bed and a sofa which converts to a double futon.

Upstairs we have three bedrooms; a double; a single (which is also used as a study); and one with two bunks and a single bed; and a large family bathroom. The house can sleep 8 (or 9 if one is a child).

We love cooking and baking, so the kitchen is kitted out with pretty much everything you could need and ideal for entertaining.

The house is set back from the road; the front garden has parking for two cars.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live very close to the city centre, and the Phoenix Park. The houses on the road are redbrick or Tudor-style. We are within walking distance from the city centre (about 20 minutes walk to O Connell Street, 35 minutes walk to Grafton Street) and there are also several busroute options to the city centre, and the Luas (tram) is down the road.

There is a shopping centre 5 minutes walk away, with pharmacy, butcher, post office, supermarket, hardware, cafe etc. We are 5 minutes walk to the Phoenix Park, the largest walled park in Europe, which also houses the Zoo. We are 20 minutes drive from Dublin airport, 5 minutes drive from Heuston train station, and 10-15 (depending on traffic!) minutes drive from the M50, making it an ideal base for exploring Ireland.

The area is very settled, with a mix of young families and older people who have lived here a long time. For such a central area, there is a lot of space and greenery.
