Our home

Our house was built in 2000 and is located about eight miles from the centre of Dublin city in a private estate. It faces a large green landscaped area in front and gets the setting sun to the rear in the evening.

Downstairs there's a large lounge with open fireplace. This leads into the dining room. Off this is a fully-equipped kitchen and a small breakfast room. There is also a guest toilet in the hall. Double doors are provided from the dining room to the patio, and also from the breakfast room to the landscaped garden. There are wooden floors and tiles throughout the ground floor. Overall the house has a very light and airy feel.

Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms although this type of house is normally finished as a four-bed. As a result, the main bedroom is very large and has an en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom is a twin, and third is a single. All bedrooms have built-in wardrobes. The main bathroom and en-suite are tiled.

The house is finished to a high standard with all usual modern conveniences including broadband. For entertainment there's a large LCD TV, satellite and cable, dvd/hard disk recorder, an excellent hi-fi, and several games consoles.

I would also favour swapping cars subject to insurance. I have a nice little sporty (automatic) Toyota Celica.

Who we are

  1. I'm a father with three grown children. I'm in my fifties, a professional (engineer), and a non-smoker. I'm also retired which gives me great freedom to travel. My eldest daughter set the pace for us though - recently travelling around the world! My other boy and girl are aged 22 and 21 respectively. We are a positive and happy little family and like spending time with family and friends and meeting new people. We are very responsible and have respect for our own home so we will take good care of yours.

We welcome exchange offers from throughout the world and are always interested in shorter swaps within Europe. We have house swapped once already - late last year with a San Diego couple - and that was a great success. We don’t have pets of our own, but are happy to look after any animals in an exchange home.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The historic and exciting city of Dublin is within easy reach by car, train (an easy walk to the nearby commuter station) or bus (passing the estate every 6-10 minutes). Dublin has many tourist attractions and literally hundreds of great restaurants, pubs, live music sessions, world-famous theatres and excellent shopping.

The stunning scenery of the Dublin and Wicklow Mountains and many beautiful beaches and little fishing villages are easily reached via the M50 Motorway which encircles the city and passes within a mile of the house. The house is also an excellent base for tours further afield into Ireland as all major roads to other parts of the country start from the M50.
