Our home

Ours is a bright, comfortable, welcoming family home, with a large kitchen and dining area. There is a conservatory to the back which brings the outside in - it has 2 small couches, a lounger and coffee table and it is a lovely spot for relaxing, doing some yoga or reading. The sitting room has a lovely stove for the cooler evenings, and a 40 inch HD television, PS4 & Wii games consoles, apple TV with Netflix. The PS4 can be used to play DVDs - we have a large selection of childrens and family movies. The master bedroom is large and airy with a new queen size bed and en-suite bathroom with shower. There are 3 other bedrooms upstairs, The second upstairs bedroom has bunk beds (bottom bunk is double). The third upstairs bedroom has a day bed with second pull out bed underneath (both proper comfortable single beds), The 4th upstairs bedroom is a single room with single bed. We also have a lovely bright double guest bedroom downstairs with adjoining bathroom, including shower.

The house sits on a one-acre site, with a large garden to the front, where we enjoy our coffee watching the kids on the swings or playing football (2 medium sized goalposts to the very front large garden). The back garden is tiered with a patio area (including BBQ, table & chairs) outside the kitchen / conservatory, Up a lovely winding path you find a large trampoline and picnic bench and ramble further again to a lovely grass lawn with stunning views across Rosscahill and surrounding woodlands.

We have 2 adult bikes and three childrens bikes which you are free to use to cycle around the 3km block we live on or farther afield - there are great local cycle tracks.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a married couple with three children, a daughter aged 12 and two sons aged 9 and 7. We love where we live as it's a truly warm and comfortable home in a great location for quiet relaxed country living with easy access to all the fun of Galway city. We like to BBQ, cycle and love walking in Ross woods (1km away) with our dog Buddy. Darren works in a large medical device manufacturer on the other side of the city and I am self-employed, also in the medical device sector.
Our children go to the local school and are all great swimmers. The boys are also keen members of Oughterard rugby club. We are all animal lovers and often watch nature programs and are keen to see as many other places as we can. We have house swapped once before in 2017 In London and had a fantastic time.! We see it a great way to do more travelling for a lower cost. We would definitely want to swap cars so we can explore where-ever we go. When we are away our dog Buddy stays with the lovely local kennels but we would ask that you would feed (& chat to) our cats Lily & Sully.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

A small river runs close to our home, which is nestled in beautiful woodlands. It is a lovely friendly neighbourhood, where you will enjoy birdsong in the morning and beautiful clear skies for stargazing after dark. There is a circular route on quiet country roads that takes approx 20 mins (or 35 minutes when I take the children!) to walk.

We are 3.5km from the village of Moycullen which has 3 lovely cafes, both casual and fine-dining restaurants, a great bookshop, a fishmonger, butcher and local supermarket. If you head west in the other direction you will reach the picturesque and famous fishing town of Oughterard, which also has several great cafes, bars and restaurants, as well as an 18 hole golf course (and pro shop) which welcomes visitors. You will also find the award wining McGeoughs butcher. You can also visit Galway city, which is 20km away and is a really wonderful, colourful, vibrant cosmopolitan city. The restaurants are impressive, catering for all tastes and budgets, with an emphasis always on fresh local produce. There is always plenty on in Galways theatres, live music venues as well great on-street entertainment.
