Our home

PLEASE NOTE - WE ARE ONLY LOOKING FOR SIMULTANEOUS SWAPS WITH ITALIAN HOMES FOR SUMMER 2018

Our family home is located in the heart of Dublin’s south side, a short bus ride from the city centre (15 minutes). A bus stop is conveniently located outside the gate of our house, with buses regularly going throughout the day into the city centre. You can visit Trinity College (the home of the Book of Kells), O’Connell Street, Parnell Square, Grafton Street (the main shopping area in the city centre), the National Gallery, Temple Bar, Guinness Storehouse, St. Stephen's Green and Government Buildings, while still being able to come home within 10 minutes, away from the hustle and bustle of town. If you wish to plan a day trip out of Dublin, the motorway is a mere 10 minutes by car from our front door. Phoenix Park (the largest enclosed park in Europe), Dublin Zoo, Dublin Castle, the Botanical Gardens, the Irish Museum of Modern Art, are all a bus trip/short drive away.

Harold’s Cross, Terenure village, Rathgar and Rathmines (with an abundance of lovely shops and cafes) are also within a 5/10 minute walk of the house and the beautiful Bushy park is a 25 minute walk away. There are also several playgrounds within short walking distance.
Our four bedroom Georgian house was renovated in 2015 and has three floors (3,500 sq.ft.). It has been expertly refurbished keeping the original feel, but with all the modern conveniences. There is a large open plan kitchen/living area on the ground floor which opens out onto a large garden. A more formal sitting room and dining room is located on the first floor and there are three bedrooms on the first floor return and second floor (a large double bedroom is also located on the ground floor). The main bedroom has a super king size bed, with the remaining three all with double beds. There are three bathrooms (all with showers), one located on each floor. The main bathroom is luxurious and spacious with a walk-in shower (with both handheld and rainfall shower head), a deep freestanding bath and a double sink unit. A home office/study is located on the first floor.

The kitchen holds a built-in dishwasher, large electric hob/oven and American style fridge freezer. The washer/dryer is located in the utility room. We have WiFi, cable TV, Netflix, DVD players and Wii for your entertainment (as well as lots of toys and board games). We have a very large collection of dvds and computer games for you to choose from. A cleaner can also be organised if required.

Your neighbourhood

Our house is located between Harolds Cross and Terenure, with Rathgar and Rathmines very close by as well. All four areas are very family friendly, with a multitude of playgrounds, libraries and parks nearby. There are also numerous restaurants, pubs and cinemas within walking distance of the house. And if you can't find anything to suit your tastes in the area, the city centre is just a short bus trip away!

There are two cinemas in Rathmines - the Omniplex and a very upmarket vintage-style cinema called the Stella, which has an amazing cocktail bar and cinema with table service during the movie. There are also a wide variety of pubs and restaurants in Rathmines, from Blackbird, Craft, Copan, The Bowery, Flanigans, Graces, Rody Bolands Bar, Soho to O'Connells.

Other famous graves include those of mathematician William Rowan Hamilton and playwright John Millington Synge. James Joyce was also born nearby at 41 Brighton Square in Rathgar on 2 February 1882, was baptised at St. Joseph's church. His mother, Mary Jane Murray, was born 90 metres from the church at Terenure Cross in 1859 in the pub owned by her father, John Murray, called The Eagle House.
