Our home

Lavender cottage is a converted barn attached to 14th century Clougheast Castle in an enclosed courtyard with three other cottages. It has two double bedrooms upstairs with one bathroom, downstairs there is a lounge and a good sized kitchen with dining area for 4. The cottage is very old, made of stone walls and exposed beams but the inside is cosy with electric fire and radiators. Out side, the small patio area looks over the courtyard and castle. The other cottages are lived in part time except for one which is occupied full time. The castle is occupied part of the time.

Property features

Who we are

  1. Janet and Mike have owned Lavender cottage for about fifteen years. It is our holiday home as we live in Hampshire UK.
Mike is a retired Flight Engineer and Janet has her own business, a boarding cattery where we live in the New Forest. We are interested in non simultaneous swaps, the length of the swap is not important as we do not get over to Ireland very much and the cottage could be available for short or longish stays

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The castle and the cottages are set in large grounds which are generally grazed by sheep. It is a short walk to a very secluded beach with others in the vicinity. There is a small village called Our Ladies Island five minutes by car with a general store, garage, church and pub.
a short way from the cottage is a very good pub/seafood restaurant called th Lobster Pot.
There are three golf courses in the area all of which welcome visitors.
Wexford is a twenty minute drive away and the situation of the cottage makes it a good base for touring Ireland or even over the ferry to Wales and the UK.
