Our home

The house has 4 bedrooms two of which are 15ft by 15ft and 2 single bedrooms. It has a modern kitchen with dining room that has an open fireplace. One of the bathrooms has a jaccuzzi bath and another is an en-suite bathroom. There is a nice green garden overlooking the sea which is about 75 yards away. The house is in the little village but in a very quiet corner. You can see a 1,000-years-old castle ruin from it about 1 mile away. Great swimming beaches are 3 miles away. The marina is 5mins walk away with shops, restaurants, pubs, etc. The Kerryway is around the town, with a series of tracks, gorgeous scenery for cycling or walking, old disused railway lines and old lanes that connect throughout the countryside. This is a summer house and we live in Dublin, so it is available during the year.

Who we are

  1. We are a couple in our mid-forties: Tania is from Brazil, a journalist and yoga teacher, and Tadhg is a contractor from Cahirciveen, Kerry. We have 3 boys - Daniel 16, Gabriel 13 and David 6, so its football and all sorts of sports in our active house.
We are interested in exchanging houses in the south of France, Sardinia, Portugal and some places in Spain during the school holidays. However, we like to keep the first 10 days in August for ourselves in our Kerry home. The house is available throughout the year.
We also have another house for exchange located on a very remote, unique and exotic spot, right on top of a cliff overlooking the ocean below and the sheep (and nothing else), near this house. Email us if you would like to see pictures of it.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Beautiful and very peaceful, beside hills and sea. The town gets its name from a fort which is 10 yards away! We feel that it is a magic place, perfect for getting to know the Irish music, culture and rich folklore. If your aim is learning English, we have friends that run an amazing English school right in town during the summer months, extremely popular with students from France, Spain and Italy alike.
The area is very attractive to all ages, with plenty of interesting activities for children such as beach sports, hiking, horse riding and amazing archeological sites... plus great fishing and golf... Many artists choose this part of the country for residence and you can see their work in the surrounding villages. If you drive one hour to Tralee you find a good waterpark for the children. To the other side you find Killarney, a very popular touristic town, pretty and picturesque, with a wonderful park full of lakes and wildlife among the mountains. In Killarney you also find famous Irish spas in great hotels for a day break.
