“We did a weekend exchange with Fiona and Liam in summer 2012. Their house is in a quiet spot a short walk outside the charming town of Midleton. Their house is spacious and very comfortable with loads of toys&books for kids. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing few days there. Fiona and Liam are very open and friendly the whole exchange went very smoothly and effortlessly. There's lots to do in the area, though in a weekend we only had time to do a fraction of it. We heartily recommend this house and the East Cork area for a longer exchange! Mel and Sheila.”

Midleton is a vibrant market town with numerous restaurants and bars. It is a popular shopping town and is home to a traditional farmers market every Saturday morning, where local producers sell direct to the public. Midleton is home to the Jameson Experience (www.jamesonwhiskey.com), which is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the south. There are a number of beaches within a short drive of the town, Garryvoe, Youghal and Redbarn being the most popular. The world famous Ballymaloe House and Cookery school (www.ballymaloe.com) is located less than 10 minutes away. Midleton is 20 minutes east of Cork City, the 2nd biggest city in the Republic of Ireland and served by an International Airport. Cork is also served by the newly launched Cork-Swansea car ferry service (www.fastnetline.com). Cork City was included in the Lonely Planet's top 10 cities in the world to visit 2010. Cork is easily accesible on the recently opened Cork-Midleton railway line with services running every hour. There are several golf courses within 15 minutes; East Cork, Fota Island (former home of the Irish Open), Castlemartyr Resort (www.castlemartyrresort.ie) and Water Rock. Fota Wildlife Park (www.fotawildlife.ie) is a 15minute drive away and is a great place to spend a day with the kids, we like it so much we became members.
