Our home

The first part of our house was built in 1850. There have been some alterations since then. It is a spacious comfortable period home which we have lived in and looked after since 1995. It is in Belvelly which is about a 5 minute drive to Cobh and about 20-minutes drive to Cork City. It has a Master bedroom with a separate dressing room and large bathroom with both a shower and a Victorian style bathtub. It has two other double bedrooms, one with an ensuite bathroom with shower and the other shares a Juliet bathroom with a spacious single room. Downstairs there is a large living room and dining room, a very sunny conservatory for the summer months, a family/TV room and a music room with a piano. There is a large eat in kitchen. We have a very large garden with mature trees and shrubs, fruit trees, vegetable beds and a patio. The grounds include several period out-buildings which will will not be part of the exchange.

Who we are

  1. We are a couple with grown up children.

  2. Tom is from New York originally and is recently retired. Irene is a law professor. We would love to try a home exchange in Cape Ann, Rockport preferably.

  3. We love to cook, art, music, reading, sports - just the good life generally. Our house reflects our interests and our interest in enjoying the good things in life.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The hamlet of Belvelly is at the northern tip of Great Island. A 5-minute drive south along the river Lee brings you to Cobh, a Victorian seaside town with a beautiful promenade and lots of opportunities for seaside walks. Cobh was the last port of call of the Titanic and there is an excellent heritage museum describing this and other aspects of its ocean liner days. It is a port of call for many cruiseliners during the summer. Our house is within a 5 minute walk over a beautiful 3-arch stone bridge to Fota House and Arboretum and Fota Wildlife Park (important local tourist attractions). It is also near Fota Island Resort and Golf Course if you are a golfer. It is 20 minutes drive to Cork City or you can take a commuter train from Fota to which you can drive or walk from our house.
