Who we are

  1. We are a family of four, Jonathan, Caragh, Luc (9) and Sean (6). Jonathan is a Graphic Designer and Caragh has taken time out from her career in Interior Design to raise our two boys. We have a very placid cat, Phoebe, who can come and go via electronic catflap, so she needs nothing more that feeding once a day. We love outdoor pursuits, including: sailing, skiing/snowboarding, biking, walking and camping. We also enjoy cinema, theatre, good food & wine. We are a conscientious, tidy family, and would treat your home with the respect we treat our own. We have completed two very successful house swaps this summer and have had very positive feed back from both families regarding our home and the area. We would be more than happy to provide references if required.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Ballydehob is a well-loved village in West Cork - an area renowned for its artistic residents and food culture. Our home is located 1.5 miles outside the village - on a quiet country road. Enjoy farmer's markets, island-hopping, sea-kayaking, sea/river/lake-fishing, sailing and there are numerous coves and beaches nearby for safe bathing and camping. There are also many golf-courses in the area. Schull (4 miles) is a seaside village famed for it's sailing regatta and cosmopolitan inhabitants. There are many local summer festivals and events: Ballydehob Festival; Regattas in Schull, Baltimore, Crookhaven and Cape Clear Island; an International Jazz Festival. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants - our own village has an Italian pizzaria, Chinese, gourmet-Deli (great for lunch!) and of course 'Annies', where your order is taken with pre-dinner drinks in an authentic country pub across the street.! For the kids there are various sailing schools and Summer camps available locally - meet locals and holiday makers alike. We have a lovely playground in the village as well as pedal-boats for hire and a tennis/basketball court. Cork city is an easy 1.5 hour drive. Between Ballydehob and Cork there are many other towns of note, including: Kinsale, Clonakilty, Skibbereen and Bantry Ballydehob is an ideal location from which to explore the magic of West Cork and the Kingdom of Kerry!
