Our home

Welcome to South Kerry, and welcome to the gorgeous coastal village of Dungeagan, Ballinskelligs a short step from the world-famous Ring of Kerry and right on the path of the phenomenal Wild Atlantic Way! (www.wildatlanticway.com)
There is nothing more relaxing, and at the same time invigorating than a holiday in this extraordinarily special place on the very Western tip of the European continent, the last parish before America!
If you've never experienced the friendliness of the people, the outstanding, unspoilt beaches, cliff walks, the views of sunrise over the majestic Magillicuddy Reeks and Ballinskelligs Bay, or the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean, then you have a wonderful treat in store.
Our house is very reachable from the local Kerry Airport (Farranfore) c 45 miles and c 100 miles from the more distant Cork & Shannon Airports.
If you're looking for the perfect base in Kerry, near the Ring of Kerry or more specifically in Ballinskelligs, the most beautiful corner of Ireland, have a look through this site to view our second home property which will make your holiday one to remember.

Our modern house, West Side Haven, was newly built for us in 2008 and has all the comforts of home and more!

It is located at Chapelfield, Dungeagan, just a stones throw from the "local", ie Rosie's Irish pub, and the local Catholic church.

The rooms are finished to a very high standard and no expense has been spared to ensure your comfort. The house is large, bright and spacious, finished and decorated to a very high standard.
- 3 bedrooms, two doubles (one with double shower en suite) and one twin
- 2 other bathrooms, one with luxury bath and electric power shower
- Open fire, initial turf supplied
- Massive kitchen top spec with island unit
- Every modern comfort, bed linen provided
- No pets.

Who we are

  1. Maria and I are both in our 50s, live in Cork city around 100 miles from this holiday home and are keen to explore any part of the world! We don't need a simultaneous exchange. Maria works part-time as a nurse and I am now retired (early!) after a career in insurance broking and risk management. We have 2 adult children. Our son Eoin is living and working here in Cork and just got married in the summer of 2017 in Rome, Italy to Sarah. Our daughter Aisling is a qualified nurse having qualified at Kings College in London, and works in the Oncology Dept of St. Georges Hospital in Tooting. You could say (other than funding!) that we are free from parental responsibilities so are open to considering any interesting offers!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Dungeagan is a beautiful coastal sleepy village in Ballinskelligs and our house is situated only yards from the local pub and chapel. At the end of the village is a beautiful art gallery and coffee shop, an oasis of world class works from artists all over the world, check out www.cillrialaigartscentre.org. There is a World Heritage Site right alongside us, at Ballinskelligs, the world famous Scellig Michael, an ancient monastic site that lies around 7 miles offshore that people come from all over the world to visit. The Islands featured in the Star Wars blockbuster hit film, The Force Awakens, released in 2015. It is a place of indescribable majesty and magic, and can be reached by daily ferry from local Ballinskelligs and Portmagee ports (approximately an hour long journey each way and a good chance to see all sorts of marine and birdlife, from dolphin, seals, even whales, and of course the tens of thousands of gannets that are at home at Little Scellig, the sister island of Scellig Michael) For more info check out http://www.worldheritageireland.ie/skellig-michael/

Another site that's worth visiting is https://www.facebook.com/ilovetheSkelligs

Word of warning........ when you visit this part of the world there is a grave risk that you will become entranced with the area, the places and people and you will find yourself (like us!) coming back again and again and again. It's a spiritual thing, can't be explained by the natural beauty alone!

For anglers the lake at Lough Currane in Waterville, only 7 miles away is world famous for its trout and salmon fishing, (see http://www.loughcurrane.com/) while for those into sea angling both shore and boat, the waters around here abound with fish, from cod, pollack, mackarel, bass, gurnard, ling to mention but a few.

For the golfers among you there are two fantastic courses within 7 miles of our house, the brand new and very exclusive aka expensive Hogs Head Golf Club, and the much more renowned and longer established Waterville Links, a course that's been a favourite of such legends as Tiger Woods, Payne Stewart, Mark O'Meara and simply ranks as one of the most memorable courses you will ever play. Ranked Number 34 in the WORLD'S TOP 100 according to Golf World, it's a little expensive but worth every penny. And a world class welcome to go with the world class course.
