Who we are

  1. I'm Gina & my husband is Padraig. We are both in our 30's. I'm from Ballina. My mum & some of my brothers are still living in the town. We had a restaurant there for a few years (which my brothers now have). We moved over 2 years ago to open up a new bar & restaurant in Padraig's home town. We miss Ballina - really - it's that great! We have a chocolate labrador (called Timber). My brothers have a great bar & restaurant 1 mile from the house on the river front (Crockets on the Quay)... well worth a visit or two! We love entertaining & the house was always full of people. We are also big fans of the sea & watersports. Padraig is a golfer (I'm a golfing widow!) and a keen shooter in the winter for game.
We are open to offers from anywhere, but on the practicality side of things it will be short stay(a week or so) as we can't leave work for long periods of time.
Our house is available anytime as it's our 2nd home now, so the dates you can use it are completely open to suit your needs.
You can see our bar / restaurant at

Your neighbourhood

Nice neighbours! Garage & shop 100 yards away. We are on a main road. 1 minute walk to the famous River Moy. The town is really lovely. Very friendly people. Loads of great little pubs, shops & restaurants. Horse riding & 18 hole golf course in the town. Enniscrone beach (2 1/2 miles long) is only a picturesque 8 mile drive away . Magnificient 18 hole links course right on the beach. The Seaweed Baths at Kilcullens Bathhouse are a must there too! Deep sea fishing trips available. You can also hire guided fishing boats from Ballina which can stop off for al fresco lunch at Bartra Island (Nick Faldo has just bought the island to put a golf course on it).
North Mayo coast - beautiful little towns all around. Things to do & see... Foxford Woolen Mills, Rosserk Abbey ruins, Killala Round Tower, The Ceide Fields, DownPatrick Head (fabulous sea stack).
Good web sites to visit for info on the area are : , , , and , pick "projects" and then select "barta island" . Exact location of Ballina is visible by looking at

You can fly into Knock or Sligo (both 1/2 hour away & hire car there).
