Our home

Our home is newly built cottage style. We have three double bedrooms upstairs; one with en suite. There is a second bathroom upstairs for the other two rooms as well as a bathroom with bath downstairs.

Downstairs we have an office/music room, with highspeed internet, which can be converted into a double bedroom via a pull-down wall bed.

Also downstairs there is a living room which opens out onto the garden via patio doors, a large kitchen dining area.
We have a large garden at the back of our house with fruit trees and plenty of wild blackberries. We are not talented gardeners and most of our plants must fend for themselves.

There is also a secure garage which contains a treadmill and bikes. We have lots of toys, trampoline, swings, slide, sandbox and various bikes and scooters so plenty for children to play with.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are Niamh and Wayne, a married couple in our 30s travelling with two boys, Eolann 5 and Isaac 1 year.
Niamh is a Librarian and Wayne is a college Lecturer so there is plenty of reading material in our home. We love art and music and love the vibrant social and cultural life that Galway city has to offer.
We have done two house swaps, one to Canada and one to Biarritz. We are looking for an exchange anywhere in Ireland or UK. We are looking for destinations that we can drive to. We love cats but our eldest is allergic so cat-free homes only please.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in a rural area which is mainly agriculutral although there are a lot of new houses close to us built by the extended families of the local landowners. The locals are very friendly and you will get a true taste of west of Ireland life. There are lots of sheep cows and horses. The area is very quiet and mostly you will just hear sheep bleating or horses hooves on the road but little else.

We are 20 minutes from Galway city and within minutes of the N17 to Galway which also brings you north to beautiful Sligo and Donegal.

We are 10 minutes from the main Galway to Dublin motorway and it takes approximately two and a half hours to get to Dublin from our house.

There are a lot of festivals in Galway over the summer, the Galway Arts festival and the Galway Races are the biggest events in Galway every year. We are 15 minutes from Ballybritt racecourse. There is always a choice of live music and culutral events in Galway as well as markets and lots of street entertainment.

We are 20 minutes from the main Galway/Limerick/Cork road also which brings you to Clare, the burren, the Cliffs of Moher, Kerry and West Cork.

Beyond Galway is spectacular Connemara, with wild landscapes fantastic for long drives. Pets are welcome but as it is a rural agrucultural area with farm animals it would depend on the type of pet.
