Our home

This is our second home, located in one of the most beautiful scenic areas of Ireland, on the west coast - next stop north America. It is a large four bedroom house, 9 years old, very well fitted out and furnished. Lovely small garden, planted with native shrubs; stream, and patio. Large kitchen is well equipped; dining table seats up to 12, with underfloor heating downstairs. Large lounge with satellite TV, DVD player. Separate downstairs double room with own bathroom. Master bedroom en suite with lovely views; two single bed in each of the other two bedrooms. Patio furniture supplied. Broadband internet access is available by prior arrangement. In general, the house is available any time except for New year, Easter and August. Our home in Dublin is also available.
For 2011, we are thinking about going to Italy for a week in July, perhaps travelling around for a while. Or we might again travel to nearby France. For the first time, we would love to go to Australia for Christmas 2011 into January 2012, maybe travelling around.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 6 (4 ro 5 travelling). Sean works on development issues in media and communications worldwide; and Aine is a psychotherapist. Dara is 18; Sorcha 16; and Fionn 13. We all enjoy outdoor activities, cooking and good food. Our eldest daughter, Eavan (29), is just back from touring Australia. Our plan is to visit Italy or France (near Italy) for a week or two during July. Our house is usually available anytime except August and Easter We have a rustica (in ruins!) in Liguria where we will also spend a week.

Our House is right on the Beara Way, a famous hiking trail along the length of the peninsula. Lovely beach is one mile. It is in Allihies village: three family-run pubs and traditional music at night; restaurant; cafes; supermarket; playground; post office; Church etc. Historic copper mines, and museum, 10 minutes walk. Many artists live in the area. Castletownbere is 10 miles away, with fresh fish every day, and lots of shops, restaurants, bars and a ferry to Bere Island. Two hours from Cork Airport; 1.5 from Kerry Airport.
