Our home

This is a sweet little pied-Ã -terre in Montmartre - compact but comfortable. The style is typical Nineteenth Century Parisian with wood floors and a marble fireplace. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom is tiny but has bunk beds which could accommodate two children. The living room has a sofa bed too so theoretically the flat sleeps 6!Flat screen TV, cable channels and Internet TV, high speed wifi and free phone calls to the United States! There's a small kitchenette but with so many restaurants on the doorstep it's more fun to test the French cuisine. The apartment building is well-kept and there is a digicode on the entrance. It's a walk-up but only on the second floor. Good heating in the winter and double glazing. As it is a "second home" non-simultaneous exchanges are possible. Any length of exchange would be considered.

Who we are

  1. My name is Linda. I am a young retiree! I love travelling and I do a lot of writing. I am English but I lived in France for 25 years and my children are French. Now I have retired to the South of France. I go to my flat in Paris about once a month and I love it. Sometimes we go there for short breaks as I love all the culture and well, it's home for me. We have already exchanged three times to New York, once to Amsterdam and many times to California so we can give you references! All of the exchanges were great! My next travelling projects are: CALIFORNIA to visit my son who has been living there off and on since 2010.
It is easy to get to London on the Eurostar from Paris and the flat is walking distance from the Gare du Nord. I will consider any offers: even being hosted if you have a nice room to offer and use of the kitchen. As I am coming to California for nearly 3 months I really don't want to spend that time in a dismal motel room! Please message me if you would like to go to Paris. You would even be welcome to come to the South of France in the spring if you prefer.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Well it's Montmartre - what more is there to say? The apartment is situated near the bottom of the steps leading up to the Sacre Coeur and 1 minute from the metro. The Moulin Rouge is just down the road and it's easy to get to all the other Parisian quarters too. Visiting galleries, the Louvre, museums, monuments, such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, is a must. But there are plenty of wonderful shops and just wandering around the most beautiful city in the world is a pleasure in itself. Close to the flat there are many many restaurants and cafes and two or three small supermarkets, cinemas and typical Parisian cabarets. There is a small street market close by on a Friday and a huge street market every Saturday. Around this area you will find the famous fabric markets of Paris. The village of Montmatre is lovely to walk to in the evening for restaurants, looking at the paintings and the fabulous view over Paris. It's quite easy to walk to other parts of Paris too, or there are bikes to hire or buses and of course the Metro. If you have time and come for a longer stay, it is easy to get out of Paris on the train to visit such places as Versailles, Chartres, Monet's house in Giverny (my favourite place in the world!), the chateaux of St Germain en Laye and Chantilly...or even the Normandy coast at Deauville and Etretat - these are all easy day trips on the train from Paris. Anyway I will give you lots of ideas if you decide to come!
