Our home

Our house was recently renovated, it however remains a rural farmhouse (this has everything of the traditional french farm: a house, barns, lots of outbuildings, a place outside to wash the clothes -'un lavoir'-, three big voulted basements, etc. the buildings are at least 150 years old). In the winter we have a good stove in the fire place (and lots of wood available) to make the kitchen/living area cosy(also there is central heating). upstairs are four bedrooms: one room with big dubble bed, one room with single bed, one child room (small kid bed), and another room with more mattresses if necessary.
On the ground floor is the living area and kitchen, office, and bathroom.
We have no television, but good computers (to watch movies or go on the net). The style of the house is rural - simple and old, but quite comfortable.

Property features

Who we are

  1. I (Céline) run an estate agency here in Limousin (originally a lawyer and environmental managment), my husband (Benoit) is a lawyer, we are around 30 years old. We have a little boy of two years (Hugo). Our interests are art in general, litterature, nature. I love classical singing, and Benoit loves to read the newspaper while drinking coffee. Hugo is very interested in little cars. We have been travelling a lot before, mainly to the USA, middle east. We are originally from Brussels, and are living in France since three years.
We are about to move from here to start new jobs around august 2006, and up until then, we would like to spend some time in 'other places', resting from our busy lives in a new environment.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is at the end of a little hamlet (5 houses are inhabited), mainly woods around us, and some fields. The area is very hilly and quiet, filled with deers and oals (chouettes). We are 15 minutes to all shops, and little towns, a big town, Limoges, is one hour drive. This place is nice for people wanting to be in the quiet, in the middle of the nature.
This area is known as the 'deep deep France', the population density is around 20/km2 (one of the lowest in Europe), there is no industry whatsoever in the whole department, mainly woodland and old towns. The area used to be much more important in medieval times: Aubusson was providing tapistry, and Limoges porcelaine in the whole of Europe. So there lots of medieval towns around.
There is also a lot of water around, rivers and lakes for those liking to fish or to swim in the winter.
We are one and a half our drive from Clermont Ferrand, and 3 hours drive from PAris or Lyon, also around 4 hours drive from Toulouse or Bordeaux (really the middle of France)
We are at 600m altitude.
