Our home

We're open to all offers, but have an exchange for July 2019, so in 2019 we're only looking for short weekend breaks nearby or week-long exchanges during Danish school holidays.

Description of our home: on the top floor there's a large livingroom, diningroom, kitchen, bathroom, toilet, master bedroom with kingsize bed, and one room with single bed. Downstairs we have two bedrooms, one with queen size bed and one with a single bed. There is also a few extra rooms for laundry and woodwork. We have a secluded garden full of flowers and vegetables, the best south facing terrace in Denmark, two greenhouses and our very own vineyard (just started this in 2005 with only 15 plants, but still...). A completely new house in the garden is also available for you, with room for two people.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 6, but our three eldest have moved away from home and we will only be 2-4 travelling. My husband Mogens, 56 years, who works as a senior soil scientist and myself, Mette, 47 years, working with GIS. We are both employed at Århus University, but live an hour from Aarhus. Our four children are Magnus (boy, 24), Anine (girl, 22), Maggie (girl, 19) and Ida Camille (girl, 16). We will take very good care of your home. We've exchanged three times before with a Norwegian, a French and a Spanish family. They loved our home and our city and we also had a wonderful vacation in their homes. We have two childfriendly cats, Leo and Liam - so you must like cats to stay here, and of course we would be willing to look after your pets. Neighbours can take care of them, if you are away for more than two days. We also have chicken, that will provide you with eggs, while you stay in our home.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in the beautiful old medieval town Viborg, known as the green heart of Denmark. The area around Viborg Cathedral is a trip back in history as Viborg dates back to around the year 1000. Lots of shops, cafes, parks and museums in the city centre. There's a golf club a 5-10 min. drive from our house. Endless possibilities for trekking, biking and sailing. The city is built around two lakes and we have Nørresø lake bath for swimming just a 2 min. walk down at the end of our street. There's also an open air pool 10 min. from our house and a great indoor swimming bath with warm water pool, slides, wellness centre aso. The area of Dollerup Hills 15 min. away is a don't miss and also a good area for swimming. Dramatic nature with springs, lake, pathways, woods, meadows, heath land, steep hills and a ruin from the Middle Ages. Nearby are also oppertunities to fish - salmon can be found in the Gudenå river. As for children-friendly attractions we have the Electricity Museum 20 min. away where you can play with the exhibits. 20 min. in the other direction are limestone mines with different exhibitions. Aqua is Northern Europes largest fresh water aquarium - a 35 min. drive. Hvolris Jernalderlandsby is a living Iron Age Village also about 30 min. away. There is a 1 hour drive to the best beaches (sea) in Denmark (both east north and west coast). And about 75min. to Legoland.
