Who we are

  1. We are Joergen and Deborah and we have 2 children Marius who is 10 and loves animals and watching nature programs and playing Nintendo and Sofus who is 6 and plays soccer every chance he gets and,of course, also plays Nintendo. They are both well adjusted, happy kids. We are teachers at Soroe Academy which is a secondary school and the second oldest school in Denmark. It was originally a school for the Danish aristocracy but today it is a modern local and boarding school which is open to the public. Joergen teaches French and physical education and I teach English and art. Jorgen likes to go to dog shows with our dogs and I like art and literature and we both enjoy cooking. I was born and grew up in Canada so therefore I would like my husband and 2 children to experience a part of Canada that I am very fond of.(We are planning to visit family in Manitoba for about 10 days and we would like to stay in B.C. for a week. (But you can borrow our house for the whole time we are in Canada)

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Soroe is on the Island of Zealand in east Denmark. The population is 6,996. Bishop Absalon who was later the founder of Copenhagen, founded the city in 1161. About 10 min. from where we live is Soroe Academy which is an educational institution (secondary school students) built in 1140 together with Soroe Klosterkirke where Bishop Absalon is buried. Many people in Soroe work either in Copenhagen or Roskilde. In Roskilde you can see the famous Viking ship museum. Soroe is a very beautiful and cultural town. There are lakes and parks and the woods close by where you can go jogging, cykling,or walking. You can go canoeing or fishing in the lake. You can swim in the lake and there is a little beach made for very small children where the water is very shallow. In Soroe there are museums,a movie theatre, a library, restaurants, and many shops. We live 5 min. walk to the train station where you can travel to Copenhagen og Sweden or you can go in the opposite direction to Odense where Hans Christian Andersen was born.
