Our home

We offer a fairly large, light and spacious flat close to most main attractions in Copenhagen. The building is from around 1900 and what you would call a typical Copenhagen-flat with high wooden panels and stucco ceilings. Our interior is quite light and simple.

We have two childrens rooms, both with a quite comfortable Ikea fold out bed. The bedroom has a kingsize bed, and we can clear some space in the wardrobe, if you need it. All the beds are comfortable.
In the living room there is a sofa, that can serve as a one person bed if necessary.

We are quite fond of cooking, and our kitchen is cosy and very well equipped with everything from a pro cold cut slicing machine to porcelain plates from Royal Copenhagen. In the bathroom we have a shower and washing machine/tumble dryer.

We have a stabil 150/150 internet connection, netflix on the tv and a very old playstation 2.

From the living room you have a view over the Institute of Niels Bohr and Fælledparken (the largest park in Copenhagen).

From the kitchen backdoor you can go down the stairs to a large and really cosy backyard with trees, playground, benches etc. - and we have a grill and a small smoker, you can use, if you want to have a barbecue.

Two bicycles are available, and if you want, you can also use our "family-bike" - a three wheeled bicycle with a big open "box" in front, where either two children or one adult can be passengers. It is a really cool way to get around the city, and lots of Danes have one in stead of a car (it is very safe to go by bike in Copenhagen because of bicycle-lanes etc.) You should definitely try it out!

Who we are

  1. We are a family consisting of: Luise (mother, early 40ties, self-employed journalist), Marius (son, 15 years, lego-fanatic, LARP-enthusiast and science-nerd), Silje (daughter, 13 years, loves animals, sports and tv-series), Basse&Melvin (guinea pigs) and Fije&Else (small dogs - all the animals are babysitted by family when we travel).

We are very tidy and responsible, and we are used to staying at other peoples houses and take as good care of other peoples homes as we do our own.

We love traveling, cooking, reading and "hygge", a Danish national "sport" best described as "doing something cosy together".

We know Copenhagen quite well, and would love to help you with tips for sightseeing and finding the wonderful secret spots in the city - like the most perfect spot in the Ørsted-park (there's the Ø again) to bring our transportable grill and have a barbecue while the sun sets.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in a beautiful neighborhood called Østerbro - in walk- og bicycle distance from most major tourist attractions (10-15 minutes by bike to Kgs. Nytorv, the Royal Theatre, Tivoli, Nyhavn, Christiansborg, Rosenborg Castle (Really lovely little fairytale-ish castle), Amalienborg (the royal home) and the change of guards, the Canal boats, most museums and a lot of cool galleries (some fridays are vernissage-day where you can make a gallery-crawl, really nice and free of charge)
Østerbro and the nearby multicultural neighborhood Nørrebro houses cafés, bars and restaurants to fit every taste. If you like shopping you should go to the center of Copenhagen around the pedestrian street "Strøget" (yes everything worth visiting here has an Ø in it!) or go to the small shops at Vesterbro.

You can also easily take buses or just walk (but taxis are a bit expensive). If you are a DriveNow-member, there´s lots of cars here - and a charging station just across the street.

Though it is very central, it is a calm and spacious neighborhood - you have Copenhagen's largest park right across the street, with playgrounds, many possibilities of physical training and nice walks. And around the corner we have "Søerne" - the lakes - four old Parisian-style artificial lakes, that Copenhageners use for promenades and coffee at the small cafés. Or dinner and drinks in the evening.

When you cross the lakes by one of the bridges, you are in the town center with walking distance to most attractions.

5 minutes by bike from our home, there is a train station from where you can go on longer trips (40 min to Malmö in Sweden, 1 hour to Helsinore and the tower of Kronborg, 1.5 hour to Odense and the H.C. Andersen museums, 3 hours to Legoland etc.)
