Our home

We have a detached bungalow near Lake Ontario located 30 miles from Toronto. There are four bedrooms on the main floor and one in the newly renovated basement, which also houses a ping pong table. There is also a piano. The spacious living room looks out on a deck and above ground pool, which although small, is perfect for younger children. We have a garden and also a trampoline and adjustable basketball backboard outside.

Property features

Who we are

  1. I (Doug) am a high school French teacher and my wife Francine is a translator. We lived in Belgium with our four kids (Francine is Belgian) till 2001, when we came back to Canada. Our four children (22, 20, 18 and 12) will probably be making the trip with us, including the eldest, who remained in Belgium to go to university. We exchanged several times while living in Belgium, but haven't done so since 2003. This could be one of our last family trips, as my wife, myself and our youngest child plan to return to Europe upon my retirement in July 2007.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are located in the older, leafier part of town, a short walk from our new library and downtown. Although we're within a couple of miles of the major highway going into Toronto, our neighborhood itself is very calm. Toronto is a fascinating city, probably the most multicultural in the world. There are tons of things to do there in the summer: fantastic and affordable restaurants with cuisine from around the world (the world's second largest Chinatown after San Francisco); music festivals; outdoor theatre; major league baseball; museums; the world famous CN Tower. The weather is usually hot and humid in summer.
