Our home

Our home is a cozy and quaint 1914 Arts & Craft bungalow with a large varandah. It has the character you would expect in a home of this age and is nicely decorated and furnished. We have two bedrooms and a quiet den with fireplace. There is also a fireplace in the livingroom. The cheerfully painted kitchen adjoins both the sunroom and a gracious diningroom. We have a lovely English style garden with lots of flowers. The sunroom overlooks the back garden and is a delightful place to eat or read.

Who we are

  1. We are Brian and Joyce, a retired couple in our early 60's. Although we are from Victoria we come from English backgrounds and lived in England for 17 years. We quickly fell in love with Europe and with travelling in general. We have done a house exchange already and found it to be a great experience with no dissatisfaction on either side. We are looking forward to seeing more places and cultures. We would expect to arrange an exchange some time in advance. This would give us a chance to communicate via email to ensure our exchanger's needs were met. We are flexible people and open to suggestions.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are located in Oak Bay, one of the most sought after areas of the city. Although we are a short car ride or bike ride from downtown Victoria and the Inner Harbour, Oak Bay boasts a picturesque European style village of its own. There you will find all the usual amenities, in a very European atmosphere. A short stroll from our house takes you either to the village or a first class marina or to one of the beautiful beaches that surround the area. Many lovely parks and play areas are nearby. Victoria, itself, is a delightful city with a thriving city atmosphere and wonderful architecture. As Victoria is located on the tip of Vancouver Island there is an abundance of activities both on and off the water. We are surrounded by beaches. There are many fine golf courses nearby as well as great fresh and salt water areas for swimming and fishing. Wherever you drive or walk or cycle, you will see stunning ocean and mountain views. Our temperate climate makes it a very easy place to live. Flowers bloom all year long. Beacon Hill Park (less than a 10 min. drive away)is outstanding complete with petting zoo and botanical delights.
