Our home

My home is called a "loft" - a very trendy type of Vancouver condo. A loft is described as any residence that was converted from old warehouses. This particular warehouse was built in the late 1800s but the condo has everything you need for modern living. Fireplace, washing machine and dryer, flat screen TV, etc. But the good news is that it also has maintained some of its original charm. Exposed brick, wood beams, hardwood floors. It is a studio and so the whole place is basically one big room (aside from the bathroom). The photos I have posted are from when I bought the place (3 months ago). This is not the furniture you will, therefore, find when you get there. But I assure you, my own furntiture is just as nice. I do not have a balcony but there is a HUGE rooftop deck which is shared by the handful of residents in the building and which has a beautiful view of the ocean and right across to North Vancouver and the mountains. There is a BBQ there as well as tables and chairs and anybody is welcome to use them.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The best thing about my condo is that it is situated in Gastown which is the oldest part of Vancouver and one of the prettiest neighbourhoods. This part of Vancouver has a real "old world Vancouver" feel. There is a lot of brick and iron work, cobblestone streets, etc. It is also right on the water and very close to the cruise ship terminal as well as Canada Place. For these reasons, Gastown is "the" place for tourists. But Vancouver has so much to offer - from beaches to nightlife, from galleries and world class restaurants to moutains for hiking. The best part about house swapping is that I can leave you a list of all the best things to do and see in Vancouver. I'm always so shocked at the number of tourists in Gastown who don't get a chance to venture further. I don't have a car but there is truly no need for one in downtown Vancouver - you are a cab ride away from everything!
