Our home

"Villa Shaw" is a large and luxurius, architect-designed and built home in a quiet residential neighbourhood of Toronto. It is tastefully decorated in an eclectic style that combines antiques with modern art and amenities. There are 2 large terraces facing a private garden with mature trees.

Property features

Who we are

  1. My husband Branko (architect) and I, Vanessa, (veterinarian) are both self-employed, so our time is very flexible. We have a very mature, well-travelled 18-year old daughter, who will be at university next year, studying international relations and peace-keeping. Our 3 loveable cats, Mini, Tinta and Ollie stay home when we travel, and they would love to have you around when we are gone.
We have not yet had the opportunity for simultaneous home exchange, but our experience with hospitality exchange (non-simultaneous exchange) has been excellent. We've met some wonderful people and established friendships from Brazil to Germany. In fact, in June 2006, we are receiving some guests from Cologne for about 2.5 weeks, whom we met through this website, and later in the summer, we will return the visit but only for about a week because we'll end up travelling through Europe again. It does not matter to us if the exchange period is not exactly equal for both parties. We often end up just passing through a place and simply prefer meeting with people instead of hotels, while there.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Ideally situated as a tourist base, the property offers easy access to all Toronto attractions, as well as Toronto Airport and major highways. In 10 minutes, going east, you can reach Yonge St (but not in rush hour), the main North-South artery of Toronto and in the same amount of time, going south, you can reach Bloor St, the main East-West artery of Toronto. Toronto is a hustling and bustling metropolis with a very vibrant business, social, culinary and cultural life. There is much to see and experience. The city is often referred to as the Canadian Big Apple, aligning it to New York. At the end of a busy sightseeing day, our house and its green, meticulously groomed private garden are a very welcoming, comfortable and relaxing refuge.
